error logging in! error creating ssl context ()

I saw there was a really old thread asking about my exact problem but the one reply did not help so I am hoping someone else might have some thoughts.

My laptop recently died a terrible death and so I decided to rehab an old (old) laptop to use for DDO. I did a complete reinstall of Windows...ahem...Vista Business which went well. I then installed DDO and spent many hours patching, however, when I try to log in I get the following error message:

'Error logging in! Error creating SSL context ()'

Any help would be appreciated.

Just in case anyone else has this problem. I finally found this thread:

Which suggests (2) possible solutions:
1. Double check time/date to be sure it is correct.
2. Install/Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x86): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29

This may not work for everyone but option (2) worked for me.
