Hey all, so while back from an extended break, been toying with the idea of revamping a (very old) cleric for the upcoming pass.

I don't know that I'll actually do it- the pass seems (from what I understand) seems more about adding some SLA's and moderate abilities rather than the extensive enhancement tree revamps that I'd personally prefer, but we'll see.

Anyway looking for ideas on what the "best" gear for a cleric (healing/support etc) would probably be these days.

Will almost certainly be pure, so ideas for gear that clonks, etc would use won't be that useful. (Though still appreciated of course)

To be honest, doesn't have to be the best in slot item, I just really have no idea what to pick up these days (other than the best devotion etc I can find)
Simple ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

I would love to a see a complete, cohesive endgame cleric gearset. Every time I sit down to draw one up I fail miserably. Just can't fit everything I feel I need.

Here's what I came up with last time I tried: (I haven't committed yet by actually crafting or farming any of this.)

Head: Legendary Pansophic Circlet
Eyes: ML34 Wisdom 15 Goggles of Ins. Necro Focus 3 w/Ins. Wisdom 7
Neck: ML34 Constitution 15 Necklace of Ins. Wizardry 155 w/Ins. Constitution 7
Back: Legendary Earthen Mantle
Wrist: Greensteel Smoke
Hand: ML34 Spell Penetration 6 Gloves of Resistance 12 w/Ins. Spell Penetration 3
Waist: Greensteel Conc Opp
Feet: ML34 Dodge Bonus 15 Boots of Jump 22 w/Ins. Fortification 79
Ring: ML34 Positive Lore 23 Ring of Sheltering 38 w/Ins. PRR 18
Ring: ML34 Charisma 15 Ring of False Life 57 w/Ins. Charisma 7
Trinket: ML34 Light Lore 23 Trinket of Spell Focus Mastery 5 w/Ins. MRR 18
Body: ML34 Constitution 15 Armor of Eternal Faith w/Parrying 7
Main: ML34 Silver Flame Weapon of Negative Lore 23 w/Ins. Balance 11
Off: ML34 Fortification 159 Shield of Wizardry 310 w/Ins. Electric Resist 28

My cleric on live happens to have greensteel gloves (concop + spell points) and bracers (smoke + hit points), one of which is cleansed, from many years ago so I'm trying to incorporate those.

EDIT: I see this gearset is missing healing amp, so that's a no-go. Looking more closely, both Healing Amp and Heal (the skill) are chosen in my gearset file, but neither are slotted. Analysis says I can't fit everything.

meh, that's depressing. just linked like 20 items of interest and wrote a lot of blah then hit back button in browser by accident, now it's all gone to limbo...

anyways, long story short, recent adventure packs introduced a bunch of BTA ML28 items. these are kinda nice to run for.
quests that have some of these that are useful to cleric specifically, or at least useful for defensive or other effects include:

http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_27_named_items
(quests: halcyonia helmet, lesser displace trinket, healer's bounty large shield, raid not much for cleric - maybe hamp/good luck trinket)

from u28, by and large only the orb from subversion quest:
http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Epic_Increased_Potential

from the new epic meridia quests some potentially interesting ML29 items:
http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_29_named_items

also, legendary shroud raid to farm mats to eventually make an LGS con op weapon

i.e.: http://ddocrafting.info/lgs/29/17/46/204/22/-1/

the interesting part is that the tier1 150 positive spellpower STACKS with the enhancement bonus from another standard item
(max pos spellpower would be 150 LGS tier1 + 150-185 enhancement + x insightful + y quality devotion) and then the tier3 bonus effect for temp SP proc

edit: making a tier 1 LGS is not overly costly, and a weapon with 150 stacking devotion for full healbot mode is easily made on but a few runs, the mats even drop in smaller quantitiy on the 2 legendary meridia quests endchests

http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_31_named_items
specifically the pansophic circlet from illusionary larcaner and the earthen mantle from search and rescue drow optional chest

slave lords:
http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_32_named_items
both for crafting (long term project) and named items (spineret ring, heavy armor with +2 profane stats, orb, hardened hide helm)

u34 http://ddowiki.com/page/Tower_of_Frost has a Con/Sheltering ML27 Necklace that ain't best in slot but helpful if needing to bolster survivability

http://ddowiki.com/page/Update_35_named_items
bunch of nice things, heavy armor, healers belt, potentially bracers for potency (though pansophic circlet from larcaner quest in harbor is better as it also has 10% SP save)

now, there's a bunch of nice items but farming these out individually tends to be an ugly chore, drop rates aren't great, running at least hard or better elite or even r1 is the way to farm them - however that can be tough as all these quests are lvl28-30 base and are new content, which is much more painful then some older quests.

so Id suggest not to hunt particular items, but give the above loot lists a glance over, kinda settle on a list of 6-12 quests that have "stuff you could use", run these quests often with guildies and friends on at least hard, (rather than ransack chests aim for 1x daily runs, if avialable do reruns on alt toons) and dont be shy to jump into an elite or r1 pug if such a one presents itself - the droprates are generally sad but noticably "less" crappy on elite+

once ya collected a few goodies, give cannith or slavers crafting to round out a set some thought

oh right forgot to mention, http://ddowiki.com/page/Thunder-Forged crafting can make some nice caster sticks and orbs for ML 24/26/28, though the last tier is a bit of a grind rly
this is also a good way to get a solid ML26 armor
mats excluding tier3 mats can also be traded and bought

the fire peaks raid also drops a large shield that has a chance to restore temp HP/SP (dethek runestone)

legendary hound /tempest spine (TS being the easier one to shortman) is a good way to get very good alround ML29 armors and or shield http://ddowiki.com/page/Category:Legendary_Tempest's_Spine_loot

---
effects that would be nice to get in:
max wis base 15 cannith crafted or lootgen or 17 slavers
max wis insightful 7 cannith crafted, LGS or slavers crafting
quality wis 2 (halcyonia) or 4 (earthen mantle or slavers crafting)
exceptional wis +1 colorless augment, or globe of imperial blood, or exceptional 2 wis on LGS weapon

same for con, with insightful and quality being available on some items

high wizardry, insight wizardry

10% spellcost save (halcyonia or pansophic circlet or gloves from riding the storm out or gloves from necro4)

evoc focus max base + max insight
spell pen max + max insight
necro/ insight necro for destruction

potentially a conjure/insight conjure swap for cometfall?
potentially a enchant/insight enchant for greater command or if being a para bow cleric like vish

max devo max heal lore
potentially LGS non weapon item with bonus to positive spell crit damage and bonus to unconsciousness range

at least blurry better lesser displacement named item
ghostly named item

high sheltering, insight PRR/insight MRR, potentially quality PRR/MRR
hamp, potentially stacking hamp from mysterious bracers ML 21 (5k remnants, available during special remnant hunter week only, mid/long term project)

items with quality DC +2 (like above orb)

augments of interest
festive Wisdom +2, make during next nightrevels/mabar, or buy on shard exchange (stacks with all other)
globe of imperial blood
meridian fragment orange augment
ML24 yellow gianthold augments for +2 to evoc, necro, (conjure, enchant) these stack with other bonuses

edit2: it is worthwhile to hold on to standard commendations earned from quest NPCs as these are used both in thunderforged and LGS crafting

i would say we need more info about what u gonna do, i mean, other than the typical defensive stats(resistanvce, prr, dodge, etc) would be great knowing what you wanna have as offensive options, spellpower type (fire, force, light, etc) dc typed( necro enchantnent, evocation, etc)

and which difficulty you are aiming, and pl you have

cleric has lots of options, gear changes depending yout preferences

needs to be said.. I would suggest .. first...
TR, replace 'cleric' levels with 'any other class' levels (preferably ranged/caster). add UMD to scroll heal/rez self and others.
The current game is based on DPS wins the day, take too long and you will fail.. kill fast=win.
Mob Melee DPS is high.. toe-toe melee die fast lots of one-two shot deaths that cant be healed through effectively.. dead melee do 0 DPS.
That being said
.....
Gear..

1. Cannith crafting - level to be able to self craft any gear you want.. crafting for others sucks and is overly expensive resource wise.
best at level gear to date for base +insightful bonuses.. limited customizability, but effectively fills the voids..

2. Slavers pack - grind these out for slavers set and associated gear bonuses
Set bonus and Quality Stat bonus.

4. Memoirs for the Pansophic circlet.
http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Legendary_Pansophic_Circlet

5. Old school Abbot for Litany Trinket .. or Black& Blue for the ring version .. Band of Insightful Commands
Profane Stat bonus.

6. Tempest Spine, Hound, Legendary Shroud for armor and LGS gear.

7. TR lives
Heroic for completionist. Single and selective triple stack.
Racial for completionist and triple stacks.
Iconic - selective triples stacks.(no completionist yet available)
Epic - Triple stack all of these for cumulative passive bonuses and nice active stance bonuses.
Reaper - more bonuses... every point adds up...
~yeah its a grind.. but all these bonuses stack and all these little bonuses accumulated add up nicely.

Anyway looking for ideas on what the "best" gear for a cleric (healing/support etc) would probably be these days.

Well, I approach it from more of a DC-caster front than healing/support, but I'd be looking to fit in most of this:

Wisdom:
+17 Wis (Slavers or high-level lootgen)
+7 Insightful Wis (Legendary Greensteel weapon or Cannith-crafted or high-level lootgen)
+4 Quality Wis (Earthen Mantle or Slavers)
+2 Festive Wis (augment)
+2 Profane Wis (Epic Litany or ring from new quest or gloves from new raid [or even Slavers armor, but that's a bad slot for it])
+2 Alchemical Wis (Alchemical weapon)
+2 Exceptional (Legendary Greensteel weapon) (or just +1 Exceptional in any augment slot)
+2 Artifact (5-piece Slavers set)
+2 Reaper (Reaper helmet)

DCs:
+6 Spell Focus Mastery (Slavers)
+4 Artifact (5-piece Slavers set)
+2 Quality (Slavers orb or ring)
+1 Profane (Shadowscale armor)
+3 Insightful (Cannith-crafted goggles or high-level lootgen [or HoX/TS armor] [or a few named items, school-dependent])
+2 Augment

A couple notes:
- The +3 Insightful Spell Focus Mastery on the HoX armor conflicts with the +1 Profane Spell Focus Mastery on the Shadowscale armor.
- You probably noticed a lot of Slavers stuff in there. Yup. Get grinding.
- You can only use 2 of these 3 at a time: Alchemical weapon, Legendary Greensteel weapon, Slavers orb.
- I haven't actually made any LGS yet, but I've heard rumors that the spell power on Tier 1 actually fully stacks. If you care about spell power, that might influence you. Until they fix it, anyway.

Ultimate Cleric Gear: Get to 20 with whatever garbage you have lying around and then TR into a class that actually does what you're looking to do.

Are you just looking to heal raids? Then you're already fine with whatever you have lying around. Are you looking to smash face in quests and raids and actually do things more than just heal the tank? Then Cleric is dead and has been for years, unfortunately. :(

This is about right here. Lots of Slaver's gear.

I would add that the LGS weapon is only going to give you +150 fire spell power. (I suppose you could use LGS to boost healing, but that would be overkill.) That's cool but not amazing since clerics tend to have limited access to fire damage. It will be best on clerics running around in divine crusader. If you're necro the alchemical is definitely the way to go for max dcs.

Another thing to note is that if you are trying to go for a direct damage build and you don't care much about versatility and DCs the golden orb of death from TOEE is a good off-hand choice as well as the dethek rune stone. The toee orb gives you +5% bonus to crits on light spells you can't otherwise get as a cleric. The dethek rune stone gives you +20 alchemical to all your spells and a chance to get temporary sp. Note you can get 3 minute +25 alchemical boosts to spell power from potions. Since most people don't like bothering to chug 3+ pots every every couple minutes the dethek rune stone is usually a nice boost for the lazy caster. Also, don't forget the critical bonuses on slavers crafted gear.

As everyone (hopefully) knows, optimal gear depends on what you're trying to do. Nevertheless, Sir Valentine's advice is on the money for caster clerics. Start grinding Slavers.

Thanks all!
Lot's of great ideas here.

Sorry wasn't more specific, but I'm not quite sure yet what i want to do with him. (Except run more past lives, nothing but respect for all of you who can do it, but I'll probably go insane grinding out another 1-20 toon life)

Wish teh War priest tree was a but more...useful, but I'll have to see how the domains work out.

Thanks again.
