I am getting back into the game and am going to TR my cleric to Sorcerer and was wondering if anyone had any advice. I am aware that Air is better but as I have multiple cleric past lives I want to make use of the extra conjureration dc's

The primary difference is as you have already surmised: Conjuration vs. Evocation.

No matter which element you select as a back up it will be Evocation focused, but that's not such a bad thing.
