Currently running heroics lives with a few guildies (they are working on racials, I am working on HPL's)

I am getting close to finishing up my pally lives and Barbarian is next (I was going to do fighter, but the extra HP is just too nice at low level).

We normally run R1-R4 depending on numbers, so self healing is more or less out the window. I was considering doing a Drawf vbuild, but the Con-Dmg needs 18 APs and it seems like that build would not come into its own until 13-14.

I have decent gear (Cannith stuff @ level 5 and 13, the Chrono Axe and Riftmaker for GreateAxes and several of the named Dwarven Axes). No GS yet though.

I love the idea of maximizing my con/HP for Reaper and ignoring traps when occasionally soloing elites (w/healer)
. But we all know DPS is king for survival in DDO.

So thoughts? HORC max DPS with my great axes? Drawf Con build (SWF? THF?)? Human for the extra feat? I would even consider multiclassing rogue/arti for trapping since I am going to be level 20 for about a day and the capstones are not very important for these run throughs.

If you want to play a barb then pure. No race would matter as all of those points will go into rav and frenzy. Ive actually seen a brab silver pot their way to glory through impossible odds on reap lol. I mean he just beat the &*^*& outa all those monsters we're talking around 10 surrounding.

And ya as said before grab the crits with carni and the other one from the twelve, and cleave your way to glory with buffs cast beforehand of rage. (I always liked the blurry trinket from cove low levels.)

If your just doing barb for the I have completion factor then of course 11 barb 9 warlock.

what ever you end up as, get ghost touch weapons, the Ruby of Ghostbane (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Ruby_of_Ghostbane) or ghostly/ethereal items;

Cloak of Invisibility (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Cloak_of_Invisibility)
Ghost-Waking Cloak (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Ghost-Waking_Cloak)
Ethereal Bracers (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Ethereal_Bracers)
Ring of the Stalker (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Ring_of_the_Stalker) lv 15 and up.
Shadowsight (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Shadowsight)
Spectral Gloves (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Spectral_Gloves)
Whisperchain (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Whisperchain)
Planar Compass (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Planar_Compass)
Treads of Falling Shadow (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Treads_of_Falling_Shadow)

The problem being that many of these might be hard to fit into your gear set up, since many of them are quite outdated and mid to high level.
The lowest level named item that adds ghost touch i could find was the cloak from tempest spine.
Tempest spine also does drop the Maelstrom (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Maelstrom) (if you go dwarf), not particular strong, it does have 2 slots, add a ghostbane augment and you got yourself a reaper beater.

make sure you pick up cleaves, they aren't affected by the fear reaper, just make sure you watch your surroundings, reapers have the habit to spawn amid rust monsters and oozes.

I'm not a big fan of dwarf, it's far easier to stack up on strength then con, the con to damage enh are expensive to boot.
If you want a cheaper option, with more punch, check out half orc, their melee power boost almost makes up being that ugly
Orcish Rage: Action Boost: You become enraged, and gain gain +40 Melee Power and a +2 Primal Bonus to Strength. Using this ability prevents spellcasting and uncenters you. This Action Boost shares a cooldown with other Action Boosts. (Cooldown: 30 seconds)
You would only need 7 points in the half orc tree and gain some actual dps early on.
While the dwarf needs 18 points just to catch up, just for the con to damage (not to hit)
Since a barb doesn't get any extra constitution based HP benefits like the fighter (20%hp in stance) or Warlock (shining through and Brilliance), there is no particular reason to go dwarf for extra hp
The dwarf gets +2 con(racial), +2 enh, that's 40 hp extra at lv 20, assuming you take those at all.
I also doubt you'll be lv 20 for long.
Don't forget that you'll be getting 270 hp (by the time you're 18) just from the main barbarian cores)

Also, stock up on silver flame pots before hand, they require lots of favor and sadly stack only up to 10
