MY VIP just ended and I got booted in the middle of a quest. Knocked off line and forced to close the client. Now this would make a tiny bit of sense (VERY tiny) if I was on that gnome warlock I made 2 weeks ago because I own neither gnomes nor warlocks. But I am on a human fighter. No part of that character is being 'rented' by being VIP instead of premium. So thanks to this my party wiped after an hour into a difficult quest because I dropped in the middle of a large fight. A few years ago this was a problem and players had lots of GREAT suggestions on how to make this NOT a problem.

I would understand a tiny bit if this was back in the pay to play years but it's free to play now and every piece of the character I was on was free. So this boot was just an example of bad design. Not justified in any way.

and you weren't in a quest that you didn't own either? Interesting

Nope, was vale. One of the very first packs I ever bought. I currently own 90-95% of the game. Only reason I went VIP was the cat. Same goes for most of my group.

Was complaining about it in my play group today and someone said it happened to them a week ago while they were standing in public in the harbor.

Happened to me too once 2 years ago when I was in a group waiting at the door of one of the quests in Schindy. By the time I was able to pay and log back in I was outside booted from the group. The party leader saw that I had logged back on and invited me back after I explained what happened.

It used to be (not sure if it still is) that if you had a guest pass and it expired, you could still stay in the quest (or wilderness area), but you couldn't enter a new quest or wilderness area that was part of the guest pass.
