Lots of talk about Completionist and the races, made me think I'd like to set that as a goal before my 76th birthday. I've TRed 3 characters, mostly from when the cap was 20. The first was a Bard (Dwarf Axesinger) to human Arti to WF Arti, which will retire as guild craft/hagglebot. The next was a human paladin to human cleric mix, struggling at level 18.4. This is the one I will use for my completionist run. The last is a human swashbuckler (made it level 25) to human swashbuckler (I really like to run him).

Now, I prefer human, but running them in every class is not the game. Doing some fast research through dated wiki pages, I came up with this lineup:

Artificer - Warforged
Barbarian- Dwarf
Bard - Dragon?
Cleric - Human, in progress. AFAIK, the previous life won't count.
Druid - Half-elf?
Favored Soul - Dragon?
Fighter - Half-orc
Monk - Human
Paladin - Human
Ranger - Elf
Rogue - Halfling
Sorcerer - Drow
Warlock - Drow
Wizard - Gnome

I've played all the races and classes, sometimes briefly. Running a gnome is like child endangerment (the granddad in me).

Comments?

Well, dirtyword! It looks as if I missed a very important point: a reincarnation is either class or race, but not both. My previous classes do count, but not the races. Back to 'thinking about it'. Where did I leave the Jameson?

I want to throw this out there for you: It’s not disadvantageous to chase after completionist on a crafter.

You don’t lose cannith crafting XP when you do reincarnations. In fact, doing TR’s is a great way to rack up free success boosters on your crafter. (The Cannith Crafting tutorial quest resets with every variation of a TRUE reincarnation.) The worst thing you would have to do is stock up on Marks of House Cannith. Which, if you’re doing reincarnations right, you can unlock every life just by flagging for the House C raids. You would also gain crafting XP by simply dissolving gear that you find.

The next question I would ask is: What is your end goal for chasing after completionist? The answer will shape how you do your reincarnations.

Examples:

“I want to make the ultimate melee character”
Then you probably don’t want to chase after the second and third stacks of caster lives.

“I want triple stacks of all the past life feats!”
Then you will probably want to pair the fighter lives with your Purple Dragon Knight lives. And you should do all your ETR’s for non-iconic builds.

“I want to maximize reaper XP as well!”
Then you will probably want to play your iconic lives like you didn’t get all the free XP.

I hope you go for it. I’ve had a lot of fun racking up PL’s on my main character.

You're not the first (and pro'ly won't be the last), but true enough.

Wiki emphasizes this in 1st paragraph: http://ddowiki.com/page/Racial_Reincarnation

And while "long term planning" can be a fun exercise, I wouldn't worry about it too much - your view of the game and classes might well change (new favorites etc.), and the game itself almost certainly will by then.

Plan what (rough) order you think you want to grab PL's (Ranger for ranged damage, Sorcie for spell points & DC, etc), and don't worry about it too much from there until it's visible on the horizon.
