Can't create a new DDO account

I finally convinced a friend to try the game and neither he nor I could succesfully create an account. Checking the forums I found lots of threads dating back to at least 2009 on the same subject and nothing in them worked. And the DDO account creation web page is worthless in terms of telling you whats wrong. Is there any way currently to actually create an account?

I tried it on firefox, IE and Microsoft Edge.
I clicked on the play free now, filled out the form, clicked and in about 3 seconds the form comes back blank with an error thingy beside the user name saying error, the user name is invalid when it clearly isn't. I tried loggin in and it didn't work.

I just now got on my brother's computer and tried chrome also. I also tried on my ipad using safari. So we've used 3 computers, and iPad and every browser we have access to. It's so frustrating that I ended the previous sentence in a preposition.

Did you try a different user name? That one may be in use.

I personally tried 4 different names. I'm not sure how many Todd tried.

I thought on making new one, but this one lists exactly same issue I have. (quoted part is more or less what I wanna write)

Googling this issue brings many topics where some people have no issue but some can't do anything. And no offered solution works (disable adblock, try other browsers, etc.)

Just to say, my friend who I finally managed to talk into trying DDO gave up on idea, which means SSG just lost paying player (I also talked him into immediately upgrading to premium).

SSG, I sure hope you're not going Ankama's way in trolling your players, that has so far not being the case, and I hope it will never be.

Edit: there was working solution in other thread. Now I'm off to use diplo and bluff on my friend again, although checks will be really high now.
