View Full Version : Transferring Items between Servers
I'm guessing I can't transfer items between servers, right? I have an old character on a different server and he's got some good stuff that I want to give my new character. Do I need to do a server transfer? The problem is, both characters have the same name so I guess I have to do a name change as well. Is there a way to make sure the new name is available on the new server before I pay for the change? Is there an easier way to do this?

You can bring over a character with all his gear from one server to another for 2.495 TP now.

Make a test character on the new server with the name you want and once you get the name, don't delete it until right before you make the transfer.

If a character with the same name already exists on the server you transfer to, you will be <name>+1. You used to get a free name-change token, but dont know if this is still he case.
Thanks everyone. The transfer did rename the character as <name>+1. Not sure if a free name change is available, haven't looked. I'm just going to loot and delete him anyway. Not sure it was worth $20 but hey, I'm enjoying the game now and want to support it. I did get a ML6 Silver Longbow out of the deal along with an ethereal shrine, a bunch of scrolls, wants, and collectibles. Still sorting. Probably some platinum as well. Cheers!

You do get a free name change in case you decide to keep the transferred character (he may have some BTC gear like a +20 lesser heart, a battle box, etc if he has been around a long time).
From World Character Transfer Guide (https://www.ddo.com/en/world-character-transfer-guide)
If your name is being used on the world you are transferring to, your name will be appended with a -1 and you will be granted a one-time free rename credit. While logged into the character you wish to change the name of, type /changename (new name) into the chat panel to change your name.

too late now, but that seems like a big cost for what you describe you got for the $20.
Silver Longbows are easily farmed, and its usually pretty easy to arrange cross server plat trades. I hope you had a ton of high value collectables.
I'm actually trying to reincarnate my old character. He has a lot of bound to character items going back to the beginning of DDO including a +20 lesser heart of wood. I think it's going to work but how come my appearance gets randomized during the reincarnation process? Is there anyway to keep the old appearance?

About the only way is to take a screenshot before you reincarnate, then scroll through the options for hair, eyes, etc until they all match.

Everyone ascribes their own value to things...
As for the Silver Longbow the ML6 is now only available to those that have kept this legacy item. The current version in game that can be farmed is ML8 http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Silver_Longbow
and binds to Character. The ML6 version does not bind to character, it also does not have the augment but does have the critical profile and holy attributes.

And screenshot the appearance settings in character creation so you don't have to guess. :)
