Is their any low level to mid level gear that generates ki over time? Is it possible to craft it? (Ya never messed with the new crafting stuff yet) Ive seen the standard items that generate ki as you hit no matter the stance, but doesn't help with the bow of course.

Ive already got the henshin ki generation and I know if I sneak in ninja spy that generates it (kinda useless though as your always gonna break sneak) and eventually master of forms gives it with water stance, but was more looking for an armor piece to go with henshin.

There is nothing with passive gen. Like people have said there are several increased on hit options.

I find that a good practice is to meditate at the start of each quest to get Ki up. Especially if you're in a party that throws buffs. Step in, sneak, meditate.

If you're with a group, sneak whenever they stand around buffing, sneak after shrines. Sneak and meditate during scripted scenes when you have to wait around. If you have a long distance to fall/float through the air, sneak/meditate (if you're moving forward in the air, you can hit meditate and maintain it if you don't let go of the forward button).

Also, get your Concentration up (including Concentration gear) to increase your starting Ki total at start of quest/post shrining.

just to add, yes the henshin ki generation adds to ki but this is on crit. So, logically, if you use a high crit range weapon, you will get more ki. This is why the Tiefling's assassin blade (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Tiefling_Assassin%27s_Blade) is so beloved by monks for a low-level weapon (add some seeker and spam fist of iron/earth finisher with it). It has a crit profile of 15-20/2 so lots of ki boosting there.

Are you running with lighting the candle in the Henshin tree also? that removes ki on hit.

My suggestions are:
1) do not run with lighting the candle
2) use a high crit range weapon like the Tiefling blade
3) run in fire stance

you should have no problem with ki with this kind of setup, even with just two of those. Ki boosters appear with the frozen tunic (ML 16 as mentioned), the alchemical necklace out of the Cannith Manufactury (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Alchemist%27s_Pendant) quests (ML 18), and then some epic gear.

ok I wrote a bow and arrow in there but... anyways.

So no items only enhancements and the master feat for passive gen.

Like I said, high Concentration, meditate early and whenever there's downtime, and sneak whenever you can. Between all this, and getting that +1 passive from Henshin early, then Master of Oceans later, you should be good to go. Even using both 10K Stars and Shadow Fade, I rarely found myself running on empty in heroics.

Oh--you slipped that in later in the OP & I overlooked it. /facepalm.

As mentioned above--and consider occasionally meleeing also in fire to give bursts of ki too. In epics you can further twist passive ki from GMoF but I assume this is heroics.

Henshin Tier 2: Contemplation: +1/+2/+3 Concentration and Will Saves. Rank 3: Your passive Ki regeneration is increased by 1.
AP Cost: 1 Ranks: 3 Progression: 5 No requirements

And attack in Fire Stance. When running around, turn off Light the Candle. And Master of Forms: Ocean stance when you get it.

Get a Concentration item to increase your base normal Ki level. Add concentration Skill with every level.

I also found a Bodyfeeder weapon very very helpful. Like Souleater.

Are you pure monk? The passive ki boost in Kensai is stacking.
