View Full Version : 10th Anniversary Token Turn-In - NOPE
I'm a little surprised they re-opened the 10th anniversary dungeon, cool. I was originally excited so I could finish building something.
That being said, they couldn't have put the genie back in to also turn in the 10th A. token? When that was going on, I menat to log back in and use it, but life got in the way and there that dang thing sets in my bank on every character.
Wonder if we could get them to bring the token vendor back in as well? Total suckage. :(
Has anyone heard if they actually plan to do this?

I read both of those links, and it doesn't look like it's going to happen, did I miss something you saw?

No, it appears you got the point.
Your question was: Has anyone heard if they actually plan to do this?
My answer was: Yes I've heard if they plan on doing this. The answer is NO, their plan is to never bring back the 10th anniversary event trader. They've communicated this intent on multiple occasions.

We have no plans to bring back the 10th anniversary list, nor earlier anniversary gifts. We try to be clear that there is a window to claim these gifts, and when they are gone, they aren't coming back.
Same goes for this year: Use your item before the coupon ends. You will be able to click on the cake and get the rewards through April 2nd.

You know the items this year are terrible compared to the items last year. This helps widening the gap between new players and old players, and we don't need more of that.

I agree with this.
I guess they wanted something special for 10th anniversary.
Its kinda dumb, i expected some genuine cool rewards because this is the first anniversary we got where its SSG but not turbine.
Kinda disappointed that your first anniversary as a New company gave i quote "trash loot".
Expected more, expected a really unique fun reward and more effort to be put into this outside of the "lets look at the most common not picked loot and make a list of it".
But its ok, all the gear is available ingame anyways, xp was a ok-ish turn in i guess for gimp alts

Last time all of the rewards benefited higher level characters. This time there is a spread. I like it better that way.

I completely understand and agree that you are clear about the limited window.
Having said that, I think it is also clear an anniversary is a celebration of everything that has been built up over the years and is an opportunity to entice players who may have drifted away from the game to return based on the idea that the game is better for its age and all that it has built along the way.
So by all means, showcase something different each year, but don't have the hottest and best anniversary to amp people up one year and get them excited about anniversaries going forward and then follow it up the next year with a cold bucket of suck.
And to be clear, I'm not frustrated about the event in terms of the items I could have personally acquired from it had it only had <insert item I want>. I am frustrated because it will bring some people back, but it won't entice them to stay. Plain and simple it's a missed opportunity to grow the community and make the game better for all players.
To that end I think the anniversary should be a big celebration of everything about DDO. Each day of the event should be a tribute to the different aspects of DDO.
Day 0 - The Devs & Forum Suggestions - Anniversary Dungeon Opens & Game-wide on all servers 10,000 developers kills (or whatever number would take ~20-24 hours) are required to kick off the anniversary and start Day 1.
Day 1 - The Dungeon Crawl - +10% xp per groupmate! [20% off XP potions in store].
Day 2 - The Crafter's Delight - Collectible nodes drop 2x collectibles, +50% crafting xp, and deconstruction provides double essences! [20% off crafting related items in store].
Day 3 - The Explorer's Adventure - +20% Slayer Count (before other slayer bonuses), +10% Wilderness XP , and +20% chance of rare Encounters in wilderness (all bonuses are per group mate) [20% off slayer pots in store].
Day 4 - The Loot - +20% Named Items drop chance, +20% ingredient (slavers, toee, dungeon fragments, etc..) drops, +20% Challenges Ingredient Rewards (all bonuses are per group mate) [20% off bags, storage, and tomes in store].
Day 5 - The Friends - +20% Renown per group mate & 50% off platinum ship amenities (old and new) and 30% off AS amenities. [20% off renown pots in store].
Day 6 - The Memories - All Raids & Quests that are older than 3 years have triple chance to drop named items, seals, shards, and scrolls! But only on the first completion of the day. [All eligible content packs are 20% off in the store]!
Day 7 - Everything - All prior bonuses & Sales.
Think of each day representing some aspect of DDO's history. Each year kicks off with the Day 0 event to pay tribute to the devs work (i.e. killing themselves working on it) to launch the game, and the player participating to kick it off represents the players participating on the forums to try and make the game better, etc... A bit of a reminder that if the players aren't there caring enough to kick it off then the event isn't worth celebrating (but it always will be :] )
Essentially, my idea is that instead of giving people free items, give them huge incentives to play different aspects of the game. If people are going to come back and stay, it will be because they remember how much they enjoy playing. So a few free baubles are nice and all, but even better is incentivizing people to play and rediscover what they loved about the game.
I know it won't ever happen like that though. I'm sure it is some marketing mistake to have so many sales so close together, or some aspect of one or two days is hard to implement, etc... There are always reasons not to do something, but I know people would have a blast with a week long event like that.

Sounds great, but you really just can't win with this population. If you did that everyone would complain that they had to work on X day or it's just a ploy to make me buy that pack with that raid I never want to play, etc... I agree though that variety would be fun, and not just free stuff. Getting some item for a trade means something you won't run.

i have to say i really like the idea to give out these 11th year old cake pieces via coupon codes!
before we got one slice on every character. means some people got like 20 others just like 2-4.
this way everyone gets the same goodies. good choice!

The fact that it was limited to two an account was a horrible decision (2/account).
The fact that SSG made the items 90% worthless shows that they have humor and love trolling the player base.
Too bad we pay their salaries through playing and purchasing. It isn't the other way around. So the interesting part for me as seeing how the recover over the next two (2) years. They better be working overtime for this expansion(no game breaking bugs like "Tower") due out soon(tm) because too many consecutive failures will not be a good thing.

Come on guys... Do you REALLY expect this years rewards to be as good as "The 10th Anniversary" list? Be happy with what we get, this is significantly better than the previous years cake where most just grabbed Siberys Cakes or SP Pots.

So with the above said can you clarify that this event will never come back Anniversary Card Event (http://ddowiki.com/page/Anniversary_Card_Collection) so maybe I can finally dump the cruncher that has plagued my inventory for the better part of the last three years?

No reason to necro a 5 year old thread just to ask for something you should have claimed those 5 years ago lol
