Hi All,

I have been gone a very long time.

I got 6 characters to level 20 and then quit playing about 5 years ago.

So i was wondering what's going on and is it worth coming back?

Any input would be handy. :)

Thanks.

It is an entire new game since you left. Content is still being made.

Worth checking out?

You played before, had a decent investment in characters, apparently like the game style, so I would say, absolutely.

The new Reaper mode may appeal to your desire for challenge if that is a reason you left.

IMHO, it's always worth it to come back and have a look around. There have been some pretty major changes in the last five years.
If you enjoy the game, stick around.
If not, then you've only lost a minor time-investment.

Only you can answer the "worth it" question.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

Actually the main reason i left was there weren't any groups for me and i got tired of soloing what i could.

By groups i mean groups that didn't go 1,000 miles an hour through everything as i tend to be slow and i get lost really easy.

LOL if i turn around fast in a phone booth i can't find the door.

Hmmm...do they still have phone booths.

I took a break 4 years ago, and only came back recently. Other than reeling from the major changes that made my characters feel pretty gimped, I've been enjoying things. And if you aren't jumping into epic elites, I don't think it will be that big a deal.

As for your grouping question...ask around on the forums for whichever server you're on to try and find an active guild that plays at your pace. I know Khyber tends to have a fair bit going on in the LFM panel throughout the day, and there are some more casually paced guilds out there.

i'd say so.

Lots of peeps i've run across lately have returned after a few years of being gone.

It's fun again.. and i'm looking forward to Ravenloft...

i bought another 3-months of VIP, so i'll play for a few months at least....

give it a try.. run a few quests, even the free ones and see if it still scratches the itch.

I just wish they would update the graphics engine a bit.. the foundation for the game is great, but the graphics do lag a bit compared to modern games..

As to your information, grouping is a bit on the light side but those getting together for Reaper do tend to stay together and protect each other more. Zerging is still popular for daily runs but you never have to be alone if you find a decent guild to join.

You'll be sorely disappointed. There are very few people left and the remaining people are the sort of people that made you leave in the first place. So I say NO, it's not worth coming back.

Yeah, my previous guild was all like that. Good people but I really like a slow pace.
I tried coming back after 4+ years, I still like the game and I liked finding new "classic" content (Temple of Elemental Evil and such).

I'll probably log in sometimes and still solo something when I miss the good old times :)

Came back a month ago after an almost 3 year break. The game is still very much alive and I've probably joined more groups in the last month alone than I did in the years before my break.

I'm having more fun that ever in this game, after a long break. the key to success is not soloing so much and actively seeking groups. my wife and I duo'd the game exclusively for a couple years and kept getting burned out. this way is much easier and much more fun. find an active guild and use the LFG tools.

Save yourself some pain and stay away. This is not a Troll, just my opinion. I have soloed for the last 5 years and I Dont see it getting any better. We are in the End days.

Nothing is really lost by giving it a try again, right? :-)
But maybe adjust your expectations.
As far as grouping, don't expect the LFM to be as useful as before.
You'd probably need to find a static group or a large guild to find what you are looking for.

You can still play how you want and there are more options now, but I suspect the majority are doing TR trains and Reapering.
If you have BYOB (bring your own buddies) then you'd be fine.
Finding a flavor/RP/perma-death or other niche-type party from the LFM is going to be hard to impossible IMO.

But you won't know for sure unless you gave it another shot.
