Hi so I have a question. I was told previously that once you buy all the highest tier expansions that you cannot repurchase them to acquire the extra tomes and ddo points. Then yesterday someone said that they did this. So which is accurate?

Hmm... let me see. You can do it; but only on Tuesdays while hopping on your left leg and reciting the Lord's Prayer backwards. Otherwise you're out of luck.
Ps. I have no clue, but given how confusing these things can be sometimes I wouldn't be that surprised if I got it right.

I believe you cannot repurchase the same edition of an expansion. Example: you bought standard edition of MOTU expansion. You can buy collector's edition and get the extras. But it's been so long that I'm not sure if it's still true or not.

I was told previously that once you buy all the highest tier expansions that you cannot repurchase them to acquire the extra tomes and ddo points. This is correct.
Then yesterday someone said that they did this. So which is accurate? This was either miscommunication or just wrong. I'm guessing the former, where that someone was saying you could buy the base edition and then upgrade to the standard edition, which you can do. But your premise is already having the highest tier, which means you can no longer upgrade.

Really? In the past it was definitely possible to buy and apply standard edition when you already had CE. You couldn't apply only an editon you already bought. Just quick search showed this thread from less than 2 years ago: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/468158-Shadowfell-Conspiracy-twice-to-same-account-for-DDO-points
But then applying expansion codes is now in DDO Store etc. so maybe it's different.

Looks like you should be able to apply a different tier than what you already have, but there's a chance it may not work with the new store. Everyone agrees you can't re-apply the same tier, though.

So which is accurate?
I just did that based on what was apparently bad information I had gotten previous years. Had the expansion. Was told that buying the expansion again would get me most of the stuff again. The TP and character slots alone would have made it a good deal so I did it.
Got the TPs and that was it. A ticket and a couple of weeks with a bit of back and forth later, I still only got the points.
So unless the points youll get are better than any point deal they are running at the time, dont do it.

But, this is very good information. With Black Friday discount, only TP is worth it.

yes this is a great idea to use if its on sale. My advice to SSG is that when you put the expansions on sale, give us a double or triple bonus point deal at the same time.

During the last big sale were the packs were 75% off I did the following:
1) I already owned the CE edition of Shadowfell (collector's edition)... I bought this the previous year.
2) I then bought the standard edition of Shadowfell... I was able to apply the code and get all the bonus stuff that came with it including the TP.
If I look at what I have on the MyAccounts login web page it shows:
Shadowfell Conspiracy Standard
Shadowfell Conspiracy CE
along with MotU and Stormreach Standard (I opened this F2P account by buying the original boxed game off of ebay for $2.

yes it has been established that you can buy a single version of each expansion. What has only recently been established is that you can repurchase ones you have in order to get the ddo pts from it.
