is there a way to remove festival enhancements on a weapon?
specifically, if a weapon has festival icy burst, is there a way to remove that permanently?
I was asking because I was curious to see what the aura/particle effect of the base weapon was - I did not apply the festival icy burst onto it myself.
is it correct that if you apply a festival cold touch over an existing festival icy burst, that it will be downgraded? I seem to recall that if you upgrade to the second level, the icy particle effect temporarily disappears?
(if it is not possible to remove the festival icy burst effect), I was considering applying festival solar from the night revels the next time it comes around. but i had a few questions:
1. does the festival solar apply some type of solar particle effect to the weapon?
2. can the festival solar be applied to a weapon, even if the existing weapon has light damage? will the festival solar stack with the existing light damage?

I think Stone of Change effects might over-write festival effects on weapons. Not certain though.

I am not exactly clear on what you are trying to do. If you mean the PARTICLE effect that is the pretty blue color picture of the weapon, okey dokey.
If you see FESTIVAL ICY BURST on the weapon, you can only have one of those. ANY FESTIVAL bonus applied will over-write that.
If you put Festival SOLAR on it then the weapon has FESTIVAL solar. No clue what you mean by will there be solar particles on it. If I add Festival ICY BURST over a FESTIVAL SOLAR, guess what, I have FESTIVAL ICY BURST. There isn't any trace whatsoever of having FESTIVAL SOLAR on it.
Read the text description of the weapon. It will tell you everything.
Yes, you can add Festival Cold Touch to an item and over-write any other festival bonus applied to the weapon. Not sure why you want to do that, but go for it. yes, if you add cold touch as I recall you have the pretty blue picture, but frost makes it go away but adding icy burst to it makes it come back.
Yes, You can add FESTIVAL SOLAR to any weapon, even if it has light on it.
In the old days, the code physically changed the description of the weapon. Those are the weapons that have just plain old ICY BURST on them, plus ACID BURST, plus PURE GOOD. What happened is the weapon no longer said ACID BURST XYZ of PURE GOOD, it changed to ICY BURST XYZ of PURE GOOD. All those weapons were nerfed by having their levels raised either 4 or 8. wheeeeeeeee. Those weapons I can add a FESTIVAL BONUS to though.
So, technically, I could have an Icy Burst weapon of Pure good, that actually has Acid Burst and Festival Solar on it. And I actually do.
So, now you want to know if FESTIVAL SOLAR makes a color change from the BLUE of ICY BURST to something else, if I am completely guessing out of my wazoo.
Checking for that now.
I found old style some weapons that have Icy Burst added to them and I have festival Solar on them. I still have pretty blue icy burst pictures(particle?) on them.
Now, I am looking for a weapon with festival solar only on it.
Looks like I am only adding Festival Solar to the weapons that have old time Icy Burst on them. Which makes sense to my addled brain. I would rather have a weapon that is not bound to character or bound to account with four bonuses on it.

yeah, I was more curious to know whether adding festival solar changed the aura appearance (particle effect) of the weapon, causing it to glow.
I was asking because I bought from auction a weapon "of divine light" (a menace of the underdark-era suffix which adds brilliance light damage) but the weapon had festival icy burst on it.
I was wondering if there was any way to cleanse the weapon of festival icy burst so that I could see what the original aura (particle effect) for "of divine light" looked like. it is probably nothing special but I was curious.
but in any case, I think it is unlikely that anything will be able to remove the festival icy burst effect other than applying a different festival effect.
what I remember from my own risia crafting experience was that when you applied the festival cold touch, the weapon became bluish cold. when you applied the next level of festival frost, I thought it removed the aura/particle effect and it reverted to a normal appearance, and then when you upgraded to festival icy burst, it showed the glowing frosty aura/particle effect. I was wondering whether upgrading to festival frost reverts a weapon to its original aura/particle effect or if it just eliminates/suppresses the particle effect altogether..
most likely, I will just apply festival solar though the next time Night Revels comes around.

I am not exactly clear on what you are trying to do. If you mean the PARTICLE effect that is the pretty blue color picture of the weapon, okey dokey.Particle effects are the animation on the weapons themselves, not the icon. Like a flaming sword looks like it's on fire. Back in the day, festival cold/frost/icy would combine with and subdue the existing particle effects. So like if you icy bursted a flaming sword, you'd end up with a frosty looking sword with a faint red glow underneath it.
I'm pretty sure that all changed with the lootgen pass, and there are no longer any particle effects on lootgen anymore. (Now if we could get the same treatment for those ugly thunderforge weapons...)
