View Full Version : Disolving/Deconsructing - No Plat - Only Essences
Fedora1

Just noticed this morning. Yesterday I was getting plat+essences for dissolving armor/shield/weapons. Now no plat (as has been the case for clothing/jewelry since the new crafting took effect) for anything.

I tried relogging, restarting client, and a different toon. Same thing - no plat. Yet someone else that was logged on at the time said they were still getting plat.
G-Land, House K crafting hall. Anyone else running into this? Is this already on the forums? I looked first and didn't see any threads about it.

Hi there I have just tested this for you. I am on G'land and in House K - I have just dusted two items (lvl20 ring and lvl10 hat) and only got essences; normally I would also get plat.

Thanks. Oddly enough, I never have gotten plat for clothing or jewelry items (since the new crafting update) but did get plat for armor, weapons, and shields. Now I don't get plat for anything. :/

With the new crafting system I haven't received any plat at all for deconning items. Max crafter in old system and currently 385, noticed early that I didn't get plat on initial release and assumed WAI.

I haven't been getting plat for deconstructing anything for quite some time now, also. Assumed it was WAI.

Normally you don't get plat for deconstructing jewelry or clothing items, but in specific cases I believe has to do with the affects on the items I do get plat for. When I deconstruct tonight I'll have to pay more attention to what clothing and jewelry items give plat and which dont.

Take a L19 crafter like I did and decon epic loot gen. I watched my plat go up by a little each time. I fiddled with this over Christmas break after noticing the same thing.
Seemed the level of the item and/or player determined if I got plat or not.
I only tested this casually while hopped up on egg nog.
Somebody might want to re-confirm.

Well, it has nothing to do with the slot-type of the items for me. I've gone to the deconstruction device many times in the past couple months and deconned several dozen items in one sitting. And each time, I've left the machine with the same amount of platinum as when I started.

Again I noticed this over Christmas and I decond almost a 100 stack of decon mats in one setting on L 19 Livmo. The low items gave not plat and some items very nominal. I know this is old school, but when I casually checked, I wrote down the plat amount prior to clicking the buttons on piece of paper (back of a receipt).
They were different level items. I deconed loot from levels 1-30 and cleaned out my shared bank.
Emphasis on nominal amounts.

I'll keep looking at the plat amount. But I was checking it before and after so many deconning sessions that after a while I just gave up. I'm pretty sure that those deconning sessions included loot of various MLs.
I wish that the way this works was in the release notes or that an intern could be assigned to update the ddowiki page on deconstruction or both.

Bummer, I noticed a pattern and deconed all my loot to clean up for the New Year.
It's replicateable. Just have to be aware of what you deconed when the plat inches up after the decon. I deconed about 10-15 items before I noticed no plat and then a bunch more by the time I closed in on 100. I did around 94 items in one session. I went thru my toons and dumped into the shared and ported to the CC and loaded up. bought decone mats, and had a party. I'm very happy that the device workstation did not lock up on me :D
I'm tempted to burn some plat on the AH and try on another toon. heads up that I TR'ed this Livmo last night before bed.
EDIT ~ It would be great if someone can map the pattern and put on wiki, and/or bug test, in case some change occured since I took a loot p oop in the CC over Christmas break.

Nope, not plat capped on this toon, or the one I switched over to. L15 toon had <1 mil and the other (L20) had about 3.5 mil (and both are my VIP account).
I watched my plat total in inventory while I decon'd stuff and it did not go up. It was a good suggestion though, thanks.
All I know for a fact is:
1. Since the crafting overhaul I stopped getting plat from any/all clothing and jewelry, but still got plat for weapons, shields and armor - regardless of item level or effects (although early on some effects could not be decon'd, but that was only for a short time after the update and before the following patch).
2. As of last night, on this very same toon (and all the toons I have played since the update), I was getting plat for armor/shields/weapons in addition to essences.
3. As of this morning I don't get plat for anything.
Based on the replies here, it seems that everyone is having some differences in what they have come to understand as "WAI".

However, we cannot rule out an "and/or" sittuation, because when I quested this last weekend I got the wrong loading screen in a few places, where they were supposed to be fixed last year?
IMO since the U32 hot fix, I feel that old code crept back into game undoing some bug fixes. We got smacked with loading issues on Sat, but that may have been to the weekely server re-starts being on hiatus for break.
I didn't realize that people weren't getting plat for Jewelry or Clothing. I don't know why that would be WAI - decon is decon. But I'll have to pay more attention when I decon. Hopefully a dev will tell us if that is really WAI.

Went through several items, effects, etc above and below my crafter's class level. No plat. Not plat capped. Been that way since the new crafting system. Could it have something to do with crafting level?

Because I've got plat form the new system over break in minute amounts, but not from all the items I deconed. May have only been from weapons.
Like I mentioned before, it can be and/or, but should be looked at an expounded upon at least for the wiki sake.
This is not an all or nothing, since I got plat over break from deconing some items.

Yeah, I just deconstructed about a dozen items--about half of them were well below the deconstructing character's level and about half were higher than the character could equip. None of the items had augment slots. None of the items rendered even a single platinum piece.

How many of you are deconning on your guildship and how many in a cannith/kundarak crafting hall? Could location have anything to do with this issue?
I never get any plat from deconstruction after U29 in any location . Of course, it's good, WAI or not. Step in right direction, next must be fee for deconstruction. Eventually, we will rent deconstruction device, and must pay for it. And we need more plat sink anyway. 8)

I decon in the cannith crafting hall just because I can teleport directly there. I get plat for decon of weapons and armor. Rings, goggles, gloves, etc don't give me any plat.

What I've observed since the "new" random loot system was adjusted to give plat again on decon.
Weapons, Shields, and Armor: Always (almost?) give Plat. Occasionally a much smaller amount of plat is given.
Other stuff: Rarely give Plat, when Plat is given it's a very small amount.

I always decon on my guild ship and get zero plat for deconstructing everything at this point.

This seems to be random for me.
I read the log, I do not look at the message on screen, as that does not tell you everything. The result from deconstructing items appears in the standard channel, and if you get plat it is on a separate line from the essences, like this:
(Standard): You gain 480 platinum pieces from recycled raw materials.
(Standard): Item Deconstruction success with Dissolve! Consumed: +6 Chilled 5 Greatclub of Shatter 11 (1). Created: 26 Cannith Essences (1).
Sometimes I get plat for almost every item, sometimes I do not get plat on most items, and I have not been able to see any pattern in it.
But to be honest, I am happy that the lag is mostly gone. Plat is more or less worthless anyway.

Well, I know I deconstructed many items that were around ML 15 on a level 21 character and received zero platinum for any of the dozen items. So, it doesn't seem to be a character level vs. item ML issue.

Or are you really testing?
I did get plat and I'm not going to waste time fiigureing it out again an screen shotting it for you. I did my own testing over Christmas and was content with the results.
Since you're on the council and your term is about to expire, perhaps you can coax or cajole the dev team into providing an accurate response for the DDO wiki?
I suggest spending energy there on this issue while you still have some time left on council, instead spinning wheels here.

More than likely has not been updated since I checked when this thread started, but it would great if this page could be updated with the details regarding plat, http://ddowiki.com/page/Cannith_Crafting

If I thought that it would make a difference, I would post it there. I'm pretty sure that they're aware of most things like this, but with limited resources/time, I suspect that it's lower on their priority list. Usually I only 'cross-post' things that contain fresh, 'urgent' or detailed testing of a problem in order to avoid 'flooding' them with posts. This issue is over a month old. And it's the sort of thing that I expect that they'll slip a fix into a patch without much or any fanfare.
If it's not fixed before I'm out of the focus group, I'll start a thread with a frowny face about it for what it's worth (probably not much).

I used to get plat from everything I deconned, now I only get it from armor, shields & weapons. My guildies who craft report the same problem. It wasn't a lot, about 2/3's of what I'd get from vendoring the items, but it adds up. Now I'm starting to get plat short, which I never did before.
I suggest we all put in bug reports, if haven't done it already.

TYVM for doing this! I just simply don't have the time to go back and test all the variables/combinations/permutations/etc. and screen shot.
However, I do feel it's important to have the wiki updated as best as it can be since the crafting pass.
Lastly, on this year's council I know for fact that you have 2 superb crafters on the team. Perhaps reaching out to them on sub-forum will help to generate momentum to add more details about the conditions that will, and will not, drop plat on the decon.

Krelar is correct. I put some dissolver in my inventory and deconstruct stuff after, and armor and weapon give me plat output.

I always get plat from weapons and armor, never from accessories, and my dissolvers are always in a green bag in my inventory.I was keeping a closer eye on this last night. I have always kept the disolvers in my crafter's bag as that's were they went when bought and never saw a reason to go to the trouble of moving them (it isn't something my other characters need access to after all).
I noticed that I sometimes was getting plat, very small amounts though, from accessories and looking closer at that it seemed to be accessories with (colorless, I save the rest) augment slots.

Eventually, we will rent deconstruction device, and must pay for it. And we need more plat sink anyway. 8)There already is a fee for deconstruction as we have to pay for the desolvers and the new ones cost more than double what the old did.
Also, I don't see that it would sink plat so much as simply reduce the amount that is deconstructed. it would also be a poor place to try to sink plat as those who are deconsructing what would otherwise be vendor trash are already foregoing what is very likely the largest source of plat being added to the game. Basically it would be targeting those who are already choosing to add less plat to the game.
It would be much more effective to simply lower what vendors pay for items sold.
