View Full Version : New Aggro mechanic can make some wilderness areas unplayable!

Let me start by saying, I am not saying every area and sometimes the instance matters but from my experience this aggro mech is totally broken.
Went to do Storm Horns wilderness (heroic). Worst experience of new mech yet.
Playing my henshin (now TR'd) saw a single Griffon.
No probs I thought. I can handle that.
After 1 swing of my qstaff, I'm suddenly facing 9 Griffons, 6 Harpys and 3 wolves, all because they have been aggro'd from miles away.
This cannot be right.
2nd example. On my ranger/arti I get aggro after sniper shot. ***? Surely the whole point of being a sniper is that no-one knows where the shot came from? How can that be right?
Anyone else have views?

From my experience, it is all wilderness areas.
the good news, you can clear areas out faster.
The bad news, you had better be prepared for a lot of aggro in certain areas.

on the bright side ... this could make slayers xp go much much faster.

This has happened periodically in Stormhorns for awhile. It happened a lot after the server move when lag was bad and at that point it reflected the fact that I had triggered spawns behind me, particularly stealthed spawns and they had only caught up to me 2 fights later. I'd get fights where I had Griffons coming in from one direction and Harpies almost dead where I was and wolves showing up simultaneously from the other direction, sometimes just at the point of turning around and heading home to their spawns.

I pretty much pulled most of Gianthold with one pull... there were giants running down hills and things running across the map... It was pretty epic... but ya... Might want to look at that aggro system

Had a similar experience, and thought I had an "Aha!" moment of fast Slayer XPs... Then the leashing kicked in...

Me too! :) I did manage to take a few of them down, before death and leashing though!

Yes, I like it when I'm in a quest, attack the one lone monster I've spotted, then suddenly I have Red Alert out of nowhere. Hilarious. Makes for quick clearing, assuming you can survive it....

yeah I actually got swamped in VON 3 pre quest. I took out the first two groups, then thought invis to the last gp. Ohh and I was only on hard, so thought np. I was soon surfing on trolls!
