To whom it may concern,
I have encountered a bug, where when use Mouse Look Mode while involving a spell with several options, like protect energy or companion, where a window pops up to select kind of companion, or kind of energy to protect against..... that I am both unable to close the window or de-select Mouse Look Mode and cannot move or perform combat while semi-frozen in this mode. The only way I have found to clear the issue is to exist the game and re-enter.
It is very reproducible. I consistently have this issue and it has not been addressed in multiple updates. I take great care to turn off Mouse Look Mode when casting spells. But, sometimes it happens by accident during the panic of combat and fat fingering

I know it is not a solution but can save you the troubles, when you drag the individual spells from the opened window to the hotbar. That way there will be no need to open the window.

Seems to me what is occurring is that when you select the protection from energy spell which gives you get a pop-up window to select which element(fire/acid/cold/electric/sonic) you want to cast.
This popup window now has preference over all your actions which screws up your mouse look, the mouse should show up as a pointer at this time waiting for you to select the desired elemental protection.
I haven't come across not being able to move the mouse around in the pop-up window even with mouselook active.(it does screw up the mouse look until you select or exit the pop-up)
..also... hitting ESC should close that window without having to Alt-F4 and kill the entire client..
as Rys posted above, you can drag the individual elements onto a hotbar and cast them directly from there. (something most of us tend to do to speed up efficiency)

This is helpful. Thanks! The ESC key should help until the patch goes live.
