Per thread title, the description for the Jade fist and the smite line it's in for Shintao says tainted creatures, which means undead, extraplanar, and undead. Wasn't it supposed to affect all evil creatures?
Also, if Ki is under your concentration score, shouldn't it be regenerating to match your concentration? Currently, on my monk build, I've got 57 concentration, and my ki is less than my concentration score, yet it does not regenerate passively. :/

The shintao ki abilities always affected undead, aberrations, and non-lawful outsiders. Nothing else. It makes no sense to me why they now affect everything and yet it's now twice as hard to use on undead, aberrations, and non-lawful outsiders. This ruins the entire point of the tree as being a sort of traditional monk priest/exorcist.
As for you ki issues, it's based on concentration, but also on your passive ki regeneration. If you have a negative ki regeneration then it might be your problem.

For this monk pass, Shintao is, or was, supposed to have been changed to affect all evil creatures rather than what was listed. Either it's bugged, or they back-tracked on it.
Edit - here's the release notes - https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/438926-Lamannia-Release-Notes-(Last-Updated-10-12-16) . It says it's supposed to affect all creatures... unless it does and the texts just haven't been updated for it.

The text just probably hasn't been updated to go along with the usage.

Its not twice as hard - undead etc have two chances to fail their roll, if they save the first time they roll a second time so there's second chance for them to fail i.e. if they fail on either roll the effect will hit.

Bleh, I think I misread the description as requiring 2 saves (like the phantasmal killer spell) rather than having to save against the ability twice.
