No Cold Lore on the Slave Master's Staff? Dumb.

Whelp, the slave rags are an insta mirror of glamour for me and I'm sure a lot of others. There's gonna be a lot of shirtless adventurers running around Stormreach soon. The lack of any cleric healing items is a bummer. The helm with relentless fury is really nice and I'll for sure want that. Maybe the trinket. I'll want to check out the craftable items more, but there's a good chance I'll craft some kind of item to tie up effects I can't fit in elsewhere. You all did a really good job on the artwork on these.

One question, Would I get the 5 piece set bonus, if I use two rings, or only one ring slot matters?

Also has tower shield ASF. A big loser of a shield if not fixed.

Not gonna track it down again but pretty sure they said in lama forums that it would count both, and that you could mix and match named and crafted.

edit: I lied, I tracked it down.

I didn't see the question as that, but yes since you can put the set bonus on all of the named and upgradeable items in this update, they all count towards a given set.

I guess he didn't address 2 rings specifically though.

My understanding is that it should work; the 5 piece set bonus is wearing five items, regardless of slot.

Cordovan? can we have a "read by dev" on the shield bug?

looks rubbish on the larger races like pdk and horc, stretched and all.

This gear has some cosmetic issues, why does the executioner's helmet have the look of a minas tirith guard?

http://img07.deviantart.net/978d/i/2014/262/e/e/lord_of_the_rings_gondor_fountain_guard_helmet_by_ geridevil-d7zqr32.jpg

The splash page artwork features a more creepy looking helm with horns, why wasn't that used? Unless the executioner took it of a captured paladin?

I like the Slave Rags looks, i have been asking for more savage and gladiatorial inspired outfits for years.
I hope they look as well on the larger races (horc and pdk) without looking too stretched.

Yup.

Is it an error or is it specifically designed to exclude cold for some reason and if so, can we know why?

1) The helm and docent both look like... something that shouldn't have the word "executioner's" in it's name.

2) Concerning the rags... I don't think I've ever seen nipples in DDO before!... I think.

3) Why does only the female version of the rags have lots of coverage? Booo...

I shall buy my mirror of glamouring now, in anticipation of the rags. That would look awesome on my fighter. I hope this opens the way to more revealing armors. I would LOVE to have a shirtless outfit for my monk with dragon tattoos on it or something so I can go all Bruce Lee on those kobolds. That would be amazing for update 33 monk pass.

Speaking of monks...this update has nothing for monks other than a few items that might add quality combat focus or generic stats.

1st: nice work on the art - these all look really different and cool and unique without being jarringly out of place with other things in the game.

2nd: these are just... so boring... in terms of effects. Not a single 'interesting' effect on any items that makes you think "ooh, that's cool, if I play using a slightly different style I can really take advantage of that", unless you count the reused relentless fury on the executioner's helm. Just bigger numbers than available before for various things in slightly different combinations, and that are just the same thing but strictly better than anything from previous updates, obsoleting everything else that gives a bonus.

I know it's too late now, but please, next time, show some creativity. Of course, if nobody could show a tiny bit of creativity on the last Xoriat items, I know it's hopeless. Maybe it's time to swap roles in the team and someone else can do some items?

1st off - that trinket. Yow. Worth buying the pack just for that alone.

2nd - for Five Rings, are you able to put that in your choice of either finger, or the trinket slot? Or is it going to use all three slots together? If I double click on it while it is in my inventory, what slot will it go to?

Yeah I don't have the answer for this, but I hope this works out for people who swap items a lot. As I am one of those.

From the hotbar or inventory, clicking on the multi-slot item puts it into the first slot listed in the description. If you want it to go into the other slot, you'll have to drag it over.

IMO...the meat of this is more the Three crafted items from the Slave Lord's Quests. Named items are just fillers. Those crafted items will garner a lot of replay value in those quests.

What I'd love is alternate versions not dropping, but that you're able to switch for with a trader or an altar or something, that changes the order. So that the Five Rings defaults to Trinket (though you can still put it on the first or second finger if you wish), which would make gear-swapping so much easier. (I'd also love something similar for rings in general so you can hot-swap the second ring with relative ease, and weapons for the off-hand, but I realize that would be prohibitively difficult, whereas these three items it might be possible to make a second version).

I can understand not wanting to dilute the loot tables with excess variants (though that didn't stop you guys in the pass, it seems you've moved on from that idea lol) but a trader who'll swap out one version or another would solve that problem. (It would also be nice to have him swap out OTHER older items with mutations, while he's at it.)

I know it's not gonna happen for U32, but maybe a patch?

I like the rags for their look although the skirt on the male looks a little funny.

Lore-wise, I am trying to figure out insightful sneak damage on a helm that seems geared for heavy armor (also in terms of its look). I feel like an executioner's helm should have some vorpal proc on weapons instead, like the stormreaver pendant.

more lore: No freedom of movement on any items? heh. Or something specifically related to chaining/bonding, even if quasi useless, like a hold monster clickie?

But my comment goes for crafted items too. There's a long list of things you can craft, but not a single one of them is anything that would make a character more interesting to play, every single option is just a Bigger Number with I guess flexibility on where to put it (which I guess obseletes crafting (in the same update it's introduced!!) and random loot except for the availability of ingredients). For set bonuses, you can get... extra bonus to your Bigger Numbers.

I certainly won't be replaying quests over and over to make boring garbage like that, no matter how big the numbers are. Hopefully I replay the quests because they are fun and one day maybe make some items because I happen to have the ingredients.

But at least the art is cool.

I hate to be that guy, but that is poor design. This means you can't quick swap on your hot bar if you want the boots or belt version. Am I wrong or? Why aren't there two different version that you can loot. An item that can go in either is cool but unfortunately it means you can't do a quick swap on the hotbar. I don't want to open my inventory every 30 seconds while I'm gear swapping.

I doubt this will obsolete Cannith crafting. At all. Unless you don't want those insightful stats, alacrity, double strike/shot etc.

I can see this being an issue.. with no way to tag them as being for a specific location it will swap the first location in the description..
Take Chains for example.. its Neck, Waist..
If I craft it as a belt.. I cant hotswap it on the hotbar..it will autoswap my necklace..
So unless you are crafting this as a non-swap fixed item for the secondary location, it will be a pita.. trying to swap items via the inventory tab while under fire is gonna lead to bad things...

Is it possible to add a trade vendor that can set recipe that can be used to lockdown the gear slot.. add a buckle to that chain to turn it into a belt..., or a clasp to make it a necklace... etc...

i am really impressed with allot of the legendary loot. i actually felt saliva ooze out of the corner of my mouth when i saw the helm...

however the alacrity as an enhancement baffles me. a legendary character...28 and up is almost always going to be permenantly hasted. 15 enhancement to swing speed means nothing...it doesnt stack. this boggles me...jurgies collar does the same thing and is level 11.

i would humbly suggest that this bonus become an insight bonus....good god would that be awesome.

I was a little thrown off by the alacrity at first, but I think the intent there is to make it so players aren't automatically required to equip a speed item. With the alacrity in that slot, you could instead use a 30% striding augment to get in your movement bonus. Frees up your boot slot to equip a pair of boots that doesn't have speed on them. Like the Knife Toed Boots from U31 for instance.

thanks for the discussion. I thought of this as well, and still cant reconcile this gear. Currently my blade forge runs with a [avenger docent] (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Docent_of_the_Celestial_Avenger) which is a fairly common epic level goal for many W/f melee builds. There are several other items (thinking of orchard gear) which give speed bonuses in various slots as well (boots/bracers to name a couple). Another issue with this is being on a piece of "legendary gear", is that haste is a feat which a melee (i dont) could take starting...i believe at level 25.

I guess my point to tl/dr it is that all the other loot offered REALLY stands out as legendary...items that really offer something distinct and are worth the chase. An enhancement speed boost that most likely is not going to stack with most (IMO-most have speed which accounts for both movement and combat) already built in.

EDIT: I dont html apparantly

in a VERYYY self serving way I would very much like this as an insight bonus...15% is probably too high...bump it 5% insight to speed. I would grind for that all day.
