Hey all.
Returning after a year+ break from the game with a question.
What's class/race is good to play these days?
I have my Specialist who's a bard atm, a caster type, and a healer type, I'd like to TR them all into modern builds.
They all are quite strong on PLs but my gear is (obviously) older at this point.
I'd even like to dust off the Tank if that's an option again.
What's most fun, what's most OP, and what's most gimp these days?
Any obvious winners and losers?

Rogue Mechanic with a Great Crossbow is fun.
Tempests have been improved and so have Kenseis.
Warlocks at Heroic levels seem to be the most OP.
Good luck!

Perhaps the top 3 more powerful classes these days are Paladin, Barbarien (they also got a recent re-vamp) and the new Warlock class.

Great crossbow??!?
That's interesting. It used to be, fire a Great Crossbow on Tuesday and it takes until Friday to reload. I'll have to check that out ;)
Pally and Barbs... hmmmm....
Is it the PRR/MRR or is it the offence?
Maybe I can do that and get some Pally/Barb lives on the caster and healer which are both lacking in melee PL's
Now, how to gimp out the most OP classes? I know! "Squeaky the Gnome Barb" will be my name! Gnomes better squeak when they rage or I'll be POed. (maybe that's a bad idea with 6 starting Con :D)
I definitely will do some Warlock on the Specialist to re-up the Completionist status.
Thanks to you both.

Monks have not gotten their enhancement trees pass yet.
Tai was just trolling.

advice?
Run.
Run away
Run away as fast as you can!
pallys are still op, but not as bad as they were.
it was the combination of dps and surviablity that made them great

I see in your signature that your characters are on Ghallanda Server. A recommendation, if you don't have any characters built on other servers yet - while your Primary Main character is on G-Land, consider making one Main per Server, even if it becomes a test character of many new builds out there. At worst, you make some Favor and free TP from the process, and it informs you about the new builds since you last played the game. This then gives you some insight before you Epic Reincarnate (eR) and/or True Reincarnate (TR) the Primary Main into something else.
If you experiment on Wayfinder with a Main there, look me up, as we'll support you with the Guild Airship and resources even if you're just temp/passing thru for experimenting.

specialist > mech
- obscene DPS at range
caster type > evoker bard
- bard can really benefit from most caster lives
- Master of Music epic feat
- tasty U31 sonic gloves
healer type > warlock 20
- go full ****** con-based enlightened spirit
- cannot die
- run in DC, spam Sacred Ground, and noone else can die (except in end game raids)

Thanks all (sorry im out of rep for all but i.o.u)
Good advice with running on other servers but honestly I can't deal with not being able to open on E.
Plus I don't mind experimenting and making mistakes with builds. In fact, it's kind of my thing :-D
Thanks for the cordial invite for buffs, however :)
Evoker Bard you say?
That would be fun.
How do you stretch your SP to do that? (i guess there is some new features for that)
I blow through SP on my casters like Charlie Sheen blows through blow.
I hadn't considered Warlocking on my healer.
That could work. I do want to keep a healer in the stable ultimately for getting stalled Raid LFMs underway so I hope I can keep people up and alive.
I guess Clerics and FVS are passe. Do people even need them anymore?
'Lock may be the way to go for the healer.
Thanks for the welcome back and great responses.

FYI, if going to another server, you can go in Elite quests if you're in a Party with players that are either VIP or have TRs under them.

This kind of post always make me smile...
Welcome again to the game... Thanks for play.
About the server option, In my experience I recently transfer my main toon from Thelanis to Ghallanda,.. and is true that I still missing too much some people from Thelanis,... but I must say that Ghalllanda is a really nice place to start because looks like more populated than Thelanis..
