The Ruins of Gianthold gate bug

This gate has been bugged (if you don't aim correctly you end up in the public area instead of opening the UI for the wilderness) since the release of epic GH back in early 2013. Why is this still broken?

One workaround: press Q (or whatever your 'select next object' key is mapped to) until you see "Ruins of Gianthold", rather than "Gianthold" and press E (or whatever your Use key is mapped to).

That'll get you where you want to go right off the bat.

I'm so in the habit of this now I do it automatically, but then I use my Q/E key combination a lot anyway.


Which doesn't mean it doesn't need fixing. Fix it!

I have found that if I click on the left 1/3 of the gate it will consistently drop me into the wilderness area rather than dump me back in the public area.

do what Dunkel said to do.

Backspace the door until it says Ruins of Gianthold, then type E. No more hoping you get in.

I used to do that, but I found it only about 80% reliable unless I also had my right foot dipped in custard. I put up with that for a while but it made such a mess of my computer chair that I eventually just resorted to select + use, like a sellout.

The gate isn't bugged. You can just accidentally click on the outside gate leading in sometimes. Make sure when you click to go out, you're clicking on the outside gay, which is called "Ruins of Gianthold". The inside gate is called "Gianthold".

What do you mean? I frequently get home from work and accidentally go through my front door the wrong way and end up outside again.

First when your toon is with in 5' of the door hit /taunt while looking at the Door.

Then open.. and BINGO. if for any reason that does not work, /death

That's a bug, the outside gate shouldn't be clickable, it's in another instance. It doesn't need to exist in the public area.

I know you have to click at the proper location, that's why I said you have to "aim correctly" in the OP.
