Best non-rogue rogue option

Thinking ahead to next (5th) life. Mainly played melee variants so far, and think I might try a ranged toon. Mechanic looks seriously good, and I have a Divine Artillery in the bank, but I already have a completed rogue life, and although completionist is a long way off, I'd like to run something that qualifies as another class.

Considering either a fighter (Kensei line with crossbow specialisation, extra feats, more HP) or a ranger (DWS with various ranged goodies and extra sneak), plus a deep rogue splash enabling up to T5 mechanic. Something like a 12 / 8 split say.

I'm thinking that ranger probably works best. Any thoughts? Am I missing any other options?

If you have arty, I'd say arty 2 / rog 6 / ftr or rgr 12 works as a TR template: 39 APs Mechanic (T5), 25-ish APs Kensei or DWS (T4s + cores thru Power Surge / Adv Sneak Atk), remaining APs spread where you like (Harper is obvious for more Ranged Power).
