View Full Version : Weirdness with Spellpower & Lore

So, my warlock (fiend pact) typically runs with a fire stick (with combustion and fire lore), an impulse stick (impulse and kinetic lore) and a light ring (radiance and radiance lore), and with Utterdark Blast. I have the fire stick in the off-hand so that he still has it when he switches to a rez or heal scroll, and generally in Cone.

Just now, I was playing with him to double-check that the pact damage is, indeed, affected by spellpower (wiki's kind of unclear, to my eyes at least), because I'm contemplating a monklock and trying to decide between Fey and Fiend (not the deciding factor, but certainly *a* factor), so I went to a training dummy, turned on the aura, and started playing with equipment. Removed the fire stick, and damage went down by about half (roughly as expected); removed the impulse stick, and a little bit of change, but not much, also as expected (coming from losing the Implement bonus thing). Accidentally equipped my Coffin Nail... and damage dropped *precipitously*, like down to 20-25% of what it was without anything equipped. And not just the fire, but also the evil damage, even though I'm still wearing the light ring.

So I requip both sticks - using the weapon set I have hotbarred - and damage goes back up to where it should be. Equip the Coffin Nail... and damage drops way the heck down, to like maybe 10% (even though I still have the fire stick and the light ring). Requip the impulse stick, and still down. Click on the weapon set - which is already equipped - and damage shot way up again. Same thing happened using scrolls instead of the Nail, although I did notice that if I toggled the aura off and on, the damage adjusted to what it should be.

So, basically, changing weapons (didn't try it with other equipment, mainly 'cause I don't have another ring handy to switch that out, and didn't think to try it with random equipment that doesn't affect spellpower) effectively dropped the spellpower (from all sources) to 0 until I either hit a weapon set on the hotbar (even with the weapons already equipped) or toggled the aura. This is the closest thing I have to a caster (I have a couple of melee bards) so I have no idea if this generally happens, or if it's something unique to Eldritch Blasts, or even if it's specifically the aura (generally speaking, if I'm switching to scrolls the fit's hitting the shan and I'm too preoccupied to notice if it's doing it with the cone also). But still... weird. And wondering if anyone else has noticed this, or if there's anything I can do to fix it.

Very long time bug, i REALLY hate it, its especially bad if you play hybrids and can get you killed if it happens before a heal where you expect the spellpower to get enough health back.
