I need help with my sound in DDO

I've tried contacting support but its been 3 days and I haven't heard back from them. I'm not sure if they lost my mail. Basically, other people say I sound demonic when I talk. I got a new computer get it to work. Has anyone had a problem with their sound that could help me? So far I sound normal in teamspeak and skype. I'm just having problems with ventrilo and ddo now.

USB headset, or 3.5mm headset?

If USB, is it Skype or Lync certified (like, did the box specifically have a Lync Certified sticker on it - it doesn't indicate anything important except for default behaviours with certain software, so don't worry if you can't remember).

Check your Windows Audio options (both Playback and Recording, generally just right click the volume icon in the taskbar), make sure mic is available and working properly in there, see if it is your Default Device, Default Communications Device, or not a default device at all (again, doesn't matter, just want to know where we're started). What are your Default Device and Default Communications Device, according to Windows?

Check audio in DDO, make sure relevant audio devices are selected for voice playback and game sounds.

And, of course, make sure you're using the latest audio (motherboard) and video (graphics card) drivers.
