Hey, folks.

As the title suggests, I'm brand new to DDO. I don't know why it's taken me this long to actually give it a shot, but the simplicity of the graphics and attention to detail in some of the mechanics actually hit me with a lot more nostalgia than I thought it would. I originally rolled up a monk as that's always been my favorite in the tabletops, but after reading that I'd be missing out on a lot without the ability to open locks and assuming I'd be doing quite a bit as a solo player at first I decided to roll with an artificer instead while I learn the ropes.

I was just wondering how active this server was. I can appreciate the hardcore mentality in wanting to grind out as much content and loot as quickly and efficiently as possible, but I was hoping to meet some people who took the game at a somewhat more deliberate pace. I'm a long time roleplayer as well, though I haven't seen any of that yet. The forums seem very quiet as well, so I was wondering just how active the game itself was?

Looking forward to meeting y'all in game!

Welcome.

About open locks; there are optionals and some chests that require open locks, but there is only one quest (von 5) that I can think of that actually requires a lock picker to complete it.

Welcome to DDO!

Low levels, these days, tend to be less populated. You might find some at that level who are "zerging" to build up xp to get to level 20 ASAP.

The days of of the "flower sniffer" are long gone for many - but - if you post an LFM, put that in there - it will attract other players. You might also strongly consider setting up a "static" group - I found that the best way to quest in the manner you want.

Lastly, do not be afraid to try another server if you feel Argo is right for you.

Every server has its own feel.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Look up thieves guild on argo - We're pretty small, and won't always have something in your level range to play, but we're new player friendly and we have a ship for buffs. If we do have people on with characters at your level, you'll very likely find folk willing to swap and play with you. Certainly assistance by way of advice if not muscle :)

We're busiest in mostly EU evenings but we're by no means all EU players.

Find an officer, see if you can run a couple of quests and work out if you/we are a good fit. At the moment I'm playing my bard Grymme a fair bit, or my warlock Anyayna - look for me in the Who panel by pressing O, go to the Who panel, and searching. if you put nothing in the search field and search it finds everyone online and you can then sort by guild name and just look for any thieves' guild members online.

Party sizing is 6 members and raids are 12 members to which the server is active enough to fill regularly when one is hosting groups that are popular to participate in. If you are wanting to [participate in content that is unpopular or a style that is uncommon then it will take a lot more effort to achieve to which I cannot give you an indicator how well that goes as I do not choose that path myself.

The easiest way to see server activity is to scan through the who list on the social tab. You will see 100 or so names on each day so there are tonnes about doing different things. Public groups aren't the norm and usually have around 10-20 listed in peak periods. Channels are where a lot hook up.

Good luck with your adventures and welcome to the game.

My only lead for the playstyle you mention you are after is to check the guild recruit thread for the flower sniffer topic that is likely a few pages in and chase some of the characters from there to see who is active in that style. In saying that, after 500 hours of gameplay, most cave in to the zerg style so try not give up hope if you don't find what you initially feel you will enjoy the most. Zerging is running through as fast as you can to complete. Flower sniffers as we are called tend to be D&D pen and paper types who joined the game because of D&D. Our days are not done, even though many power gamers wish it was. Anyway. Argo has been the default server for a couple of years, so we tend to be one of the more populated servers. There are several guilds that put up LFM's and there are even some who teach the flagging quests. My guild has tended to be known as a teaching guild. I suppose the name says it "We do not run thru dungeons". Feel free to message me in game at one of the names below. Lately I have been running Kkenzi, Kachinna, Fnorr, or Kyliestar.

Welcome... to your new addiction that is~ Muahahaha.

Argo is pretty reasonable. Mostly power-levelers and a smattering of elitists but I can assure you that the server always manages to have something available. (Unless a lag spike has scared everyone off the public LFM/LFG list).

Most of the guilds on this server conduct stuff inside themselves (Raids, Group Runs, Teaching Runs, Zerging, Chatbox) so if you DO join one, you'll presumably be OK.
