View Full Version : What items would you like to see?

So as many of us do, while playing the game recently I was involved in guild chat in another chat program and the discussion came up for items that people wished were in the game. While many people would love to see the BFG9000 (going way back there), its never gonna happen, so looking at DDO and its current play style, and how the game is changing, I was just wondering what other players wish what items would be nice to see added to the game. With any luck some dev or programmer might get bored of all the hate postings and look at this one and see what players want, (within reason of course) and actually do something about it, (unrealistic hopefulness is a thing of mine).

For me, two things that I would love to see added to the game, and would not overpower any class, or hinder any class in any way, would be 1) Holy Augments and 2) Boots of Anti-Hamstring.

The 1st would really help any player who uses weapons, as having Holy would help to break DR on a lot of mobs in the game. Good works on a lot of mobs, but some need Good + something, but holy augments would cover a lot of DR.

The 2nd item, the boots is really just a pet peeve of mine, for I am convinced that in every quest, any enemy who has the ability to hamstring my character always does so, and more often than not they do it as their final "death strike" as if to say, "Ha, you may have killed me, but now you will move slower to your next target."

I don't honestly expect to see either of these items appear in the next update, but perhaps someday down the road...

So... what items would you like to see added?

I'd like to see a couple more items with Intercession Ward on them. The only heroic level item with that is a great sword. I'd like some goggles or a cloak or something with the ward. I also think it would be fun to have an item that is just augment slots, for lots of customization. That would probably be more like level 28 to 30 equipment, though.

I agree, playing a bladeforged and having a quell hit you with Intercession stops the healing, which sucks.. Having other items with the ward on it, especially lower level items, would be nice to see.

The augment slot item is already in the game, the broken music box trinket from precious cargo - it has a hidden effect that grants cacaphonic guard when all the slots are filled. A lower level version without the hidden effect could be nice though, maybe as a necklace or a ring.

As for more items to see, I'd like to see more with the rare & unusual effects on them - the life-devouring one from axe of famine is nice, and i'd like to see nauseating added to the loot list too - if you can get stinking cloud to the point where it's DC is reliable (would love this added as a craftable trap for rogues & arties) it's actually a pretty phenomenal effect, preventing all casting, attacking, etc. since hey, chundering isn't exactly conductive to combat.

Oh, and a named quarterstaff/club that does charisma damage on hit, extra cha damage on crit & has stench/nauseating too would be great, i wanna hit ppl with the ugly, ****ty stick :D

I guess it was there to be as a drawback to playing the overpowered race.

However, intercession doesn't prevent the usage of healing other than the LOB reconstruct, does it?
i.e. Does Cocoon still work? Does the usage of reconstruct/heal scrolls work?

since thieves tools are stacking now (thanks again for that!) this one is not that much of an issue anymore, but I'd still love to see an 'eternal platinum +7 thieve tool' or something along those lines. maybe as a favor reward from House P or House C...

personally, I would like to see an augment that increases spell critical damage multiplier; available from heroic and epics. I think the current spell lore only increases the critical chance, but not the damage multiplier...

ML1: additional 5% to all spells...

ML5: additional 10%

ML10: additional 20%

ML15: additional 30%

ML20: additional 40%

ML25: additional 50%

ML30: additional 60% for examples.

The numbers in there are placeholders. Of course, the values need to be modified for balance.

Make it do 2d6 Charisma damage, 4d6 on Critical

****ty Stick
[1d4] - 1, 20 x 2
On attack deals 2d6 Charisma Damage...

- Spell component bags

- More named scimitars, bows, kamas, sickles, maces, warhammers, and dwarven axes. Also better support for less used weapons like maces/warhammers, sickles, and kamas. Actually, thinking about this makes me want to make a warhammer dwarf...

- Orbs that aren't made of metal.

- An arcane AND divine spell pass with new spells, removing useless spells, and revamping old spells. The ones we have are severely outdated

Remove useless spells like Mordenkainen's Disjunction... I bet 90% of the players don't use/know this spell. Replace with the Bigby and Issac's line of spells.

Also, remove True Seeing from Champion buffs and replaced them with See invisibility. Otherwise, there is no point in blur or displacement...

Also, Trap the Soul needs the CR30 cap removed... Right now the spell doesn't work in epics on monsters CR30 or higher; which is over 80% of the quests on elite.

Wail of the Banshee and Implosion needs to be able to cast from range... Don't know why DDO has this limitation of point blank range?!? WoTC states 50ft + 5ft/2 levels... At level 20, you should be able to cast at 50+20/2*5 = 100ft away; and at level 30; you should be able to cast it at 125ft away. If people spend 17 or 18 levels pure casting class to get these spells, these spells should be powerful, not cheap like these... No wonder people are still using magic missile and cheap SLAs. There are no good spells in the level 8 and 9 range... and epic spells like ruin, greater ruin and hell ball everyone can cast, no need to be a high level mage or divine.

Get rid of mass buff spells like:

6 Mass Bear's Endurance Transmutation
6 Mass Bull's Strength Transmutation
6 Mass Cat's Grace Transmutation
6 Mass Eagle's Splendor Transmutation
6 Mass Fox's Cunning Transmutation
6 Mass Owl's Wisdom Transmutation

No point in using these spells except in HOX or LHOX.

6 Mass Repair Moderate Damage Transmutation
What is the point of this spell? Are there still groups of WF/BF or just limited to WF artificers and their dogs?

Also, Protection From Energy and Mass Protection From Energy is pretty much useless at 150 protection. Probably useful at level 1 to 10, useless in epics.

Some of the old named items could use a re-fresh, but it would be neet to spend that time instead on adding a few new up-to-date new items to old quests.

I consider lowbie quests anything under level 15, but am thinking more along the lines of new named items to got get in old content in the level ranges of 3-11 ish.

Aside from TR into heroics, which I hate (heroic TR'ing), I would have interest in running sub-L15 quests again.

Intercession stops the casting of "healing spells" it should effect all positive healing that comes from clerics, FVS, Rangers and Paladins. The Commune of scribing, the Bladeforged Reconstruct spell, somehow falls into that category of "positive" healing.

I am unsure if it affects cocoon or scrolls/

I believe any spell, ability, SLA or item that doesn't deal with a deity is permitted since that's what Intercession means; i.e. stops the communication between your character and his/her deity.

While I was on the Players' Council, I suggested that something be added that reflects that in PnP, you can attempt thief skills (open lock, disable device) without tools and taking a -2 improvised equipment penalty. I figured it could either be added to the mechanic tree, it could cost a feat with the Trapfinding pre-req, or it could just be a class feature that rogues (and I suppose Artis, too) just gain. The response was a resounding "meh." I also proposed an eternal set of BtA thieves' tools that don't give you a bonus, but at least you can try to take care of locks or traps.

An item I'd like to see added is Boots of Water Walking. That way all those little puddles won't slow me down anymore.

1. Content. Underdark version of the Marketplace ..
A large foothold focal point to expand into underdark content and questing in the FR world. Starting point level 15 to accommodate Iconics and forward level questing.
Would make a nice tie-in for the lack of FR content, Gnomes and the upcoming introduction of Umberhulks.. besides.. we did just finish Annoying Lloth and defeating her minions.. time to crack open the underdark and FR content.

2. Sentient Weapons

Bring on the Sentient Weapons..
Customizable weapon upon crafting.. you can build whatever weapon you want.. no pigeon holed weapon choices.

Give Sentient weapon an enhancement tree for levelling choices. (Use the artificer pet as a template for the weapon..)
Have the Sentient weapon consume Named items to unlock branches of the enhancement tree that imbue unique traits from consumed epic named items.
Use enhancement point tree system to select regular sentient tree items or bonus branch options..
Bonus traits are accessible based on higher tier enhancement point investment.. TR and features become inaccessible until you reinvest the points.
Consume more named items over its life(lives) to unlock more bonus features..

So to get the expanded crit from eSOS.. you have to sacrifice your eSOS and let it be consumed by your sentient weapon... no refunds... want better base damage.. consume that sunblade/celestia/xxxx
Want different stat to damage, lesser/greater/sovereign vampirism, .. consume the items that have the features.
... not all options will work as your sentient weapon may have a selective palette and tends to prefer the finer Raid Named items..(the palette may change over time..or need to acquire a taste by consuming lesser versions first)

maybe even eventually..TR your weapon for more bonus Sentient weapon fetures... Weapon TR lives.. slashing, piercing, bludgeoning, thrower, ranged...

Ultimately I would like to see more options to build weapons around my character .. not build my character around limited weapon choices in the game...
There is a heavy trend towards a limited pool of decent weapon choices for players.. want to use light hammers or a greatclub.. well don't bother the base damage/crit suck and you have limited choices.. basically GS/LGS/TF..
..so do you build to be a gimp inferior flavor toon or join the crowd and get the superior limited selection weapons..

a customizable weapon usable at all levels that consumes these other named items would be a desirable means of attaining the power I want and keep the weapon I want to use while still retaining that hunt for power..

3. Gnome Storage Vaults
An instance location where we can go and access/purchase large storage containers.
a long term storage facility not accessible by the regular banking system so as to not bog down/clutter the regular daily banking interface like the TR cache does.
add some sort/search functions, filter buckets, etc.. could use something like the AH interface as a template
Relocate all future TR caches from the bank interface to a AH style vault interface.

4. Update Teleport destinations from scrolls/spells

Teleport scrolls should have different destinations in each realm.
Using the teleport scroll in Eberron should give Eberron destinations, using it in FR should give FR destinations.
It should not be able to teleport between realms, that should require the planescaller.
some have resorted to binding in FR teleport to Eberron, and doing a /death after getting ship buffs, shopping, etc...

Common teleport locations could be inter-dimensional zones that have been linked by the planescallers or have rifts into each realm..aka. rift between worlds..
The Hall of heroes could be used as a link destination accessible by both realms and amarath...thanks to planescallers
Can we not get a common Hall of Heroes with doorways into each realm instead of logging out and switching world load realms...mirroring 2 halls of heroes is annoying..
Use the hall of heroes as a inter-dimensional destination with doorways into each of the different realms maintained by a compliment of dedicated planescallers that stabilize doorways to every accessible realm as they are added into the game..

5. More spell choices...

Double the size of the spell book.
Currently there is little to no need wizards to switch up spells at shrines..
or Sorcs to even care about missing out on spells due to the limited selection.. especially at higher levels...

add some Meta's or higher level spells toat would allow for mass versions of currently single target spells.
Mass Blurr, Mass GH.

6. Player Housing.
Start with things like Crew Quarters.. a small room with a spot for a chest.. exit door to guild ship , or if unguilded.. a boat at the harbor.
Future opportunities to add.. bigger housing and more .... these are opportunities to sell space and many games have been very successful with player housing additions..
Many players would purchase a lot of housing options to upgrade to the Estate Castles and such...

Housing hookpoints to install alternate versions of amenities... like cargo hold amenities
Kobold butler(innkeeper) that makes various comments as he buys your junk loot and repairs.. "what Kobold supposed to do with this..", " you think you better than Kobold?", "oohh shiney Kobold keep this one", "kobold treasure this always"...
Succubus maid.
Large storage vault with AH like interface (same interface as gnome bank above) used for storing items, allows for sorting, filtering, searching, only accessible by House owner... Upgrade modules to add more capacity.
Additional AH style interface vaults for sharable items, and BTC items..
Perhaps even your own personal AH where you can invite people and they can buy from your general access AH terminal.. (DDO still gets their cut for offering the interface service)
General storage chests
Hallway of Mannequins for displaying armor.. like dragon armor sets...
Monster Manual room.. ornamental room with various monster displays.
Pet zoo, displays all your currently owned pets in little display area's.
etc....

7. A Magical RFID system..
Perhaps with update 30 we can get some inventory management systems implemented..

Go to the new house Sivis zone where the Gnome scribes and Bank Vaults (long term storage and lots of extra storage space) reside...
Speak to the local Gnome scribe of inventory.

The gnome will tag your inventory and add it to your personal account inventory tracking system (for a nominal fee).
Now you can access the personalized inventory tracker system and find all tagged items held by any toon on your account and readily identify where it is located.

Access Tracking Terminal, Search for: 'Iron Mitts'
~ found ~
TAG id# 10047568 Iron Mitts- Jotmon, clothing, hand item, bank tab 3
TAG id# 10047578 Iron Mitts- Jotmon, clothing, hand item, equipped
TAG id# 10047694 Iron Mitts- Jotmonheals, clothing, hand item, Inventory tab 5
TAG id# 10048002 Iron Mitts- Whatthetruck, clothing, hand item, TR cache
TAG id# 10048533 Iron Mitts- Shared Bank, clothing, hand item, Tab1

Would you like to search for another item?
Would you like to export this information? text dump or excel or...
Would you like to add another item?
etc..
AH template has categories already nicely defined and has search functionability.

8. Revamp of Gear to accommodate colouring.. or cosmetics if revamping gear is too much to encompass
Break down cosmetic to 3 area's . Use the new LGS as the template to interface (replace T1,T2,T3 with base, Trim, Accents).
http://s18.postimg.org/8qqdnvjop/Legendary_Green_Steel_Augment_Panel.png
Drag hair dye (or alternative colouring dye) into the appropriate icon spot to change the colour for desired area.

These are the other area's of the game encompassing pay systems I would expect to see in any MMO games.
I am actually pretty surprised to see Turbine has not invested more heavily into this aspect of the game, Player Vanities and storage are aspects that game players will pay for over and above content.
More revenue for the game gives more opportunities to expand content and add more interesting things to the overall game..as long as we keep feeding it, it has the opportunity to grow.

Now .. all we have to do is get some Dev's on board....

In the Droaam quest where the bugbear uses the Frying Pan against you... yeah the instant I saw it, I wanted that Frying Pan. Make it a Maul behind the scenes, give it a grease clicky or not but I want to smack baddies around with a Frying Pan and I want it to make that Bong/Klang!!!! noise on impact.

Give it extra impact damage, and maybe with a knockdown or knockout effect on vorpal.

A special mode where a player can login and take the form of a monster and be set loose in a dungeon to just cause some havoc for a party.
not a bonafide player character mind you, but just a scalable monster you get to control the actions of and supply human intelligence to.
It should not be very powerful, with the odds on it dying very high. But when it dies, it ressurects soemwhere else in the dungeon.

My friends and I came up with the idea since back in the day if a player died during pen and paper, I'd let them control a monster in the dungeon until they made a new char between sessions. It was a lot of fun actually, and eventually I had a couple people bring friends just for that purpose.

A total wish list item. they have so much to do they cant possible think of implementing something like that.

I would like to see cursed (tradeoffs), and class/race restricted items be brought back, - of course with meaningful effect combinations. Could be a new bordered tier in randgen as well, like the "rare" drops in other popular hack and slash games.

Spellcasting Implement on randomly generated weapons seems to be = ML, rather than 3x Enhancement bonus. Is this how its supposed to be ?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Range personal or touch
Target you or creature touched
Duration 10 min./level
Saving Throw Will negates (harmless); Spell Resistance yes (harmless)
This spell enables you or a creature you touch to move and attack normally for the duration of the spell, even under the influence of magic that usually impedes movement, such as paralysis, solid fog, slow, and web. All combat maneuver checks made to grapple the target automatically fail. The subject automatically succeeds on any combat maneuver checks and Escape Artist checks made to escape a grapple or a pin.
The spell also allows the subject to move and attack normally while underwater, even with slashing weapons such as axes and swords or with bludgeoning weapons such as flails, hammers, and maces, provided that the weapon is wielded in the hand rather than hurled. The freedom of movement spell does not, however, grant water breathing.
In theory I would also expect this to prevent swimming since you would no longer be buoyant and would drop to the bottom like falling from the sky.
but of course I would also have it override feather fall since I wouldn't expect to be able to float and have full freedom of movement... (give dominance to the last item equipped/cast..)
This would add some challenge to players for gear swapping and timing to equip gear when jumping off ledges and such..
For the love of all that is holy ....DISRUPTION.
As a TWF rogue gnome, leveling as a first lifer. ...I'd rather have random champion air ellies drop on my head out of nowhere than go without ghostly bypass and/or disruption for another life.
I'm not new to rogue or the game, it's just a way to play the new race and add a little challenge to heroics. Two things are abundantly clear when not playing a faceroll toon.
1: We need ghostbane back.
2: We need disruption back.
And I'm not talking at epic levels, melee have stuff to cover it on epic. I'm talking from about the time you introduce undead in heroic quests. We have vorpal at L1, which is lol, but undead rule. We need some random gen ghostbane back here in Delera's and Necro II.
FoM doesn't take away your buoyancy. It just makes it so you are no longer slowed down by the water around you. So you can use weapons that are otherwise rendered useless underwater (i.e. - slashing and bludgeoning that would be slowed to the point of ineffectiveness). You can still move around in all three dimensions while in the water. And in PnP, as DM, I rule that if you're walking along the bottom while under FoM, you move at your normal speed.
