If anyone has seen the Doppleganger from HH, please send him back to his post. He has left his junk (the Zhentarium Crest), just lying around. I suspect he may be posing as one of your party members, so you may need to kill all your buddies in their sleep - just to be sure...
In all seriousness, anyone ever come across this bug? The doppleganger is missing, but the crest is on the ground. You can "pick up" the crest, but you do not get credit for having it. Quest borked - you have to reset. Happens to me about 3 out of 4 times going into the dungeon. (As a side note, I am a rogue and am basically soloing this via hide in shadows).

We had the same thing happen last week. We just got the DM on the line and he moved us through the encounter.

I'm sure there is another thread much older as well, but can't find it right now due to forum search being broken

Highlight from that thread is this quote:
I don't know for sure, but I have seen this happen, and this seems to be my experience as well. I too have never had it happen on EE, although I also haven't run HH on EE as often as other difficulties, so...
I suspect the issue is a scripting error where the doppleganger fails to spawn on one of the statue platforms (one of the middle ones, it seems to be, on the right side if facing the chest.) I suspect that since the doppleganger fails to spawn, the script fails to work (or some order of operation error, could be the reverse is true), and the encounter fails to progress.
We've looked into the issue, but have not found the smoking gun other than we too believe it has something to do with the relatively complicated scripting in the encounter.
So it's a known issue, but one that's not being easy to fix :/
