Horrible lag in a 7 man FoTP
Even worse lag in Shavarath trying to get to DoJ
Stuttering, choppy voice text, laggy type chat in Shavarath and then also once we made it into DoJ

On Thelanis running Storm the Beaches on Heroic Elite with me and healer merc. Made it through about 5 minutes but lag got so bad that I got killed and so did healer. Tried to Release but, after several minutes, did a /quit. This was about the same time as the OP had issues.

Yeah sorry about that. Well no, not really sorry. All servers should be getting the lag. I started logging into all servers at 8:57pm CST and was using 1 scroll per server to lag them all out at the same time.

*nod* I love this game and have been around for a long time, but this is seriously damaging my calm and I'm getting very close to requesting a refund and finding a new game.

I know, I know -- the standard "Good riddance" or whatever, not looking for sympathy, just saying that it's getting bad enough lately that some people I never thought would talk about quitting are making plans to leave, and that makes me sad.

At least you're treating the servers all equally, that's a sign of true character!

Yeah you would think a bug as bad as using a scroll causing severe lag like this would have been fixed by now. But meh, priorities.

On a more serious note, it's not just your server long time people are "taking a break" till it's fixed. There are a few regulars I play with and they have literally played the game EVERY day since it came out, no matter what. One even had her laptop when she was in hospital playing it. But last week they missed a few days and there reasoning was the lag. When it gets on dedicated players nerves like that, it's already gone too far.

You are not alone JJ,

If I recall correctly the move to the new data center was being floated as a possible cure for some of the lag prior to move, some of the causes were the various equipment fails, auras, destinies, classes, etc. Now reading some of the posts I'm seeing we are getting closer to getting back to the "less lag" days of prior to moving to the new data center... wow!

With devs saying running quests and raids with fewer people may help address the lag; all I can say is I think that fewer people in quests and raids will not be a problem. If fewer people is the answer then this problem is solving itself. To those who never experience lag, congrats.

I've been having off-and-on lag. Sometimes it's perfectly fine (had a GREAT experience today). Sometimes it's dreadful (lagged completely out . . . earlier today). There's no rhyme or reason to it.

I sympathize with people's frustrations I just don't think cussing about it is going to accomplish anything.

I agree, I'm not trying to threaten or yell at them or anything, just reporting the issue to the forums and stating a fact about the impact I'm seeing to my core group of friends with whom I play. I'm a software guy, not a hardware guy, so I don't really have anything useful to submit (not that they'd want my input even if I did), so all I can do is let them know of the situation to try to spur them to further action.

And, as with you, there are many times where I have zero lag when in these same quests / raids, the main problem is the lag always seems to hit the hardest on the nights when my guild is actually available to raid (maybe it's just a common time and so there are the most people on raiding / playing, I have no idea), which is what makes it the most frustrating.

Yes, the lag is starting to raise its ugly head again. (Sarlona here). Was really nice for around 2 days after the server restart. Now its back, even solo in a dungeon, and lagging in public areas too.

TH is the worst by far. It's never not laggy in there. Get more than a handful of people trying to clear and you better have high HP/PRR or you are done for.

I hate the 'play with less people' way to fix things. I get many like to solo but I like to raid. It's what I would prefer to do with my time, even buying raid timer bypasses. Now? I can't go more than 30-45 minutes of playing without getting frustrated. And trying to find a raid is a joke and when you do it's a 25 percent chance you are going to wipe through no fault of the players. I resubbed for 3 months after an extended break but if it runs out before this lag gets fixed I see no reason to stay. I can't play the game I came back to play so what's the point?

Exact same experience here on Thelanis last night with my raid group. Abandoned DoJ after the very first fight. Lag was terrible, even on EN. Shavarath was absolutely terrible.

Played for 4 hours last night (Friday) with 5 people from my static group on Thelanis. Had lag off and on throughout the entire night. No wipes because of it (fortunately, the worst moment was actually outside Legendary Tempest Spine in House J which took a few minutes to resolve and get everyone in)... but we must have announced "lag" 20+ times throughout the night, verifying that we were all experiencing it at the same time.

Compare that to 5+ years of regular play where on most nights we would have been (un)lucky enough to say it once or twice. That is, lag has never been much of an issue for us. Not even during events.

Trace routes are not going to fix the problem. The problem is the servers.

Call a duck a duck. The new data center sucks.

Like many, when we heard the words "new" and "data center" we had a logical expectation that the game would be improving.

Whatever corners they cut could not afford to be cut.

They might want to start by scaling back virtualization in a big way.

Checked in on Saturday night and lag wasn't nearly as bad for the 45 minutes I was on (it was much later in the evening), but still had a few freezes (no issues according to the network / latency meter in game though).

I'm just really hoping this can get resolved so my core group stays in DDO and doesn't end up moving on to a different game.

The lag situation is really disheartening. Ran a LH Tempest Spine last night on Thelanis...lag the entire time. Constant rubberbanding, constant lag spikes where nobody could move for 5-10 seconds. Full 12 man group.

Its 15:21 Central Time. On Thelanis attempting Prison of the Planes. In the ice room with the barrier up. The 4 mobs are up but shadowed out and just hanging out. They do not recognize my being in the room. Been this way for over ten minutes. Latency, sent, and received all at normal levels. Can not leave the room because of the barrier so stuck until the ddo servers decide to do something or I quit I guess.

Everyone log off so I can see if it finally does something.
