I have read that the Anniversary event will end when March is finally over...

Additionally, any new character created during the time the event is active will get a token when they log into the game world for the first time. Once the event is no longer active, characters will no longer receive tokens when they log in, and the NPC will not be available. "
I assume the token then will be void if the NPC is removed. I still have a raiders box and the cake for trade in from earlier anniversary events and am able to pick a reward from them so I am confused on what the plan is for this event.
Question; Do the 10th anniversary tokens actually expire?

not exactly, but the npc goes away and cant be talked to anymore.

Do you know if it will be like the 6 yr old cake (when eaten a Djinn appears and offers a trade window)?

No. You need to trade the token before the event ends or you'll be left with the token and no means to trade it.

But the day after you throw it away to reclaim inventory space they will bring back the event. That you can count on... :)

It is a use it or lose it.
Or just hold on to it, so you can start a new thread come April 2 or so. Then, we will know.
What will probably happen,
1. people ignore stuff.
2. Find they have this thing.
3. Don't understand it. You know, TENTH Anniversary means to some people that it is forever.
4. Come to the forums and complain because they do not read the launcher.
5. Turbine brings back the trader for the weekend.
Rinse and repeat. Or until Turbine finally caves in and states, "we gave you 45 days to cash it in, with launcher warnings. So sorry."

I think they did this more as a lesson learned from the card trade/turn in.
I think as players we need to stop thinking of stuff as "too good to use" and just use what we are given :)

What is the specific cut off day to use them by? (I ask because we have a ton of toons on all our accounts and portion of the family who are tied up with RL but I don't want them to miss out)

Can we take it that an official response to this but continued ignoring of the Partial list issue where people spent their tokens before you put in the rest of the list thing is just going to pretended that it's not a thing? Just whistling past all those less than satisfied customers?
Turbine is so tone deaf when it comes to pleasing customers... how can Turbine NOT acknowledge that some people got shafted through no fault of their own?
What on earth is keeping you guys from doing the right thing? Active hostility towards the playerbase would not look a lot different from the current level of customer service.

It would not be the right thing.
And people shafted themselves by being in such a hurry to get the goodies RIGHT NOW. Which is why we cant have content that lasts either.

Maybe when they first chose there items when it first came out they didn't expect to play past that first day. Then when the list unexpectedly through no fault but turbines changed, they wanted to play a bit more then. Only people to blame are the people who change the list after it's already out. Should have left it as is, with people never knowing it was going to change.

I think that it's time to move on to the acceptance stage of the grieving process.
Repeating the same complaint a dozen more times isn't going to make it more compelling.
It really doesn't matter whether or not the complaint is justified or how noble your quest is. The constant repetition is (1) pointless and (2) tiresome to read all over the boards.

this is one of those posts I am making full well knowing i will regret it. And yet... I seem to be compelled to do.
the main arguments people are posting for wanting a second token are:
'I picked something I didn't really want but it was all there was.'
mostly in conjunction with:
'had I known there was other things to be added, I would have waited.'
Please note I am paraphrasing, if I accidentially quote anyone the likeness is purely coincidential. and no gnomes were hurt in the production of this paraphrase. or in other words: please don't feel picked on.
so... if there was nothing there you really wanted, why did you turn it in *straight away*? If there was nothing there you really wanted, you could have as well left the token in your bag and thought about maybe making a build some day with one of the items that were being offered. Maybe.. just maybe... the motivation was to grab the cookies while they are hot. and now you see a chance to grab a second cookie.
the other argument I am seeing is:
'we are entitled to a second token because turbine screwed up'
No yer not. you did not pay for delivery of a complete aniversary list, you pay (or don't pay, depending on your subscription) for logging onto the game. and being allowed/able to play (and yes, typing this I know someone will respond 'well but the game is unplayable anyway!' to which I will have to point out the multiple threads in which that is being discussed and that for a lot of players that isn't true and that anyhow, Turbine does not have to compensate for game outages. so please save us all the effort.) In fact, by giving us the goodies for the aniversary turbine is over-delivering. giving a bonus. gifts. Did you ever get a nick-nack from a friend that you had not even finished unwrapping and you were thinking 'goddammit that's ugly.' Did you tell that to your friend, or did you say 'oh, how thoughtful, thank you!' ?
There is another thread, probably handed down to page 2 or 3 of the general forum, where a father is asking for a second token on behalf of his son. just for his son. because of circumstances and.. life not always being easy. And I suported his request. because it was non-selfish, and only motivated by making his son happy, and making the time they get to spend together shine. And that thread was immediately taken over by people demanding a second token for everyone too.

And this is why you don't understand how focus groups work. Because regardless of whether or not you think my perspective is "good" or not... the purpose of focus groups is not to assemble a group of people with "good" perspectives!
For the 1,000th time, the players council is a form of MARKET RESEARCH. It is not a statistically representative body, a faux-democratic government, or a lobbying group!!!
I don't work for you or Turbine! Give it a rest!

Just because a person says it's for his son and only his son, doesn't mean it's for his son and only his son. Could be, but never know.
And that is exactly the reason I have only gotten all my rewards on 1 "throw away" character that I keep deleting over and over getting the token and using it on stuff. Eventually I'll login and get all my alts there xp token.

Just because a person says it's for his son and only his son, doesn't mean it's for his son and only his son. Could be, but never know.
But here's the thing, we shouldn't care whether it;'s true or not. It's a trivial item from a raid no one plays anymore and any reasoning about "not wanting to kill those old raids" was already abandoned when they gave out the first tokens.
The percentage of people who wanted an abbot quiver and were occasionally joining abbots to try and eventually get one who no longer will might have been 1.7% of the pop (hypothetically)
What can we imagine the percentage was of people who wanted TWO obsolete items from dead raids? 0.04%? who knows but it's **** low...
So why do we care if another token is given out?
Why do some invariably Turbine apologist people on the forums obstinately argue against this?
Because turbine's not done it so it must be the will of "The great and all knowing Turbine"
It's icky seeing people call the RIGHT MOVE a bad idea simply because their faux stand in authority figure doesn't appear willing to do it.
full disclosure I don't want a **** thing from a second token. I had a hard time caring about the first round, besides some extra quivers and 1 pair of madstone boots that I've been trying to get an old unplayed toon for years... none of that stuff is a big deal and neither is a VON3 run's worth of XP either. I am arguing for people who got arbitrarily shafted by turbines mistake and because I recognize the RIGHT THING TO DO from a customer service standpoint, which obviously no one at Turbine understands or is able to care enough to do.

Its more like people snatching up a vottle labeled "free" and drinking it before they check what it actually contains, can blame themselves for drinking it. Not that the guy placing it hasnt got a portion of blame, but you should learn to take responsibility for your own actions as well.
Why on earth would i be on the PC? I have to listen to stupid complaints in rl, i have no desire to bind myself to listening to people complaining on a forum as well.
Oh, and if you really think youre being sarcastic, youre mistaken. Because you just described the justifications for the complaints made....

Hey whatever twists and contortions you want to make to blame the player for Turbine umpteen millionth botched execution of a new thing. Make no mistake you are blaming the "victim" (yes I know that's too strong a word to describe a Customer who's been disappointed by a company that can't do anything right lately).
Lets face facts, Turbine can't see the right thing to do for the same reason that you can't... They are incapable of figuring out what good customer service looks like.

I absolutely believe they should have just left the list as it initially has been, because whenever turbine tries to accomodate customer requests (which I think is good customer service in a nutshell) people ask for even more because they think they have a right to it. The only mistake they made is listening to the wrong people in the first place and accomodating their requests and add these things. Or we wouldn't be having this discussion now.

He wanted a 2nd token so he could get his son a Sword of Shadows. That's not a trivial rarely run raid though. Harder then most items to get yes, but not that hard if you try hard enough. Me personally I believe they should have left the list as it originally was when it first became live, they messed up when they added stuff after the event had started.
If the list would have been left as it originally was, we could have stuck to our original complaints of how crappy said list was and moved on. But it was made worse changing that list after it was started because now people are complaining they want another for whatever reason.

I'm fairly sure that in the beginning there was an official announcement encouraging people to trade in as soon as possible. This was removed when they realised that they were going to add more stuff to the list.
So I don't think that its fair to blame people for being a little ticked off. Whether this entitles them to an additional choice or not, they did get somewhat poor treatment.

See, this is where you are wrong ;) You don't see a need to complain right because you are a fanboi and believe that everything Turbine does is right, whether it actually is or, most of the times, it is not. Obviously this time Turbine is, yet again, wrong, but you feel the necessity to defend them.
Whoever doesn't agree with you are all complainers and/or entitled. Gotcha. Nice philosophy yours, it ensures you are never wrong
Heh. You just proved me right.
Some people state that there is an issue, some make issues ro complain about, and some hunt for threads to make sstatements of fanboihood because they dont have a ything useful to say.
My chronic problem is a lack of tolerance when it comes to fools.

I tightened mine. Nobody wants a loose token.
But seriously, heads up for those who don't already know: Twinblade (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Twinblade) is a negative level item, even though it does not say so in the item description like most others do. :( I got burned twice, once with a lawful character and once with a chaotic character. Stupid me.

The Players Council is supposed to represent as many player viewpoints as feasible. Therefore his viewpoint is entirely fine for the Council.
