I was considering making an evil damage GS weapon after taking a look at the Warlock Enhancement Utterdark Blast which changes the warlocks force damage to evil damage. The enhancement description says: Evil Damage from spells is usually boosted by alignment-based Spell power, and normally deals full damage to enemies regardless of enemy alignment, though particular enemies may have special defenses. I realize that GS damage isn't boosted by spell power but I was surprised to see that evil damage works on most things. Is this true? I also notice that when crafting a GS evil weapon you get potentially two forms of damage.

Tier 1 - Unholy Damage - which reads 2d6 extra damage vs Good
Tier 2 and 3 - Evil Burst and Evil Blast which is defined as evil damage (not unholy?).

Now are these in fact two seperate types of damage, unholy and evil? And does only evil effect most creatures while unholy only effects good creatures?

FYI for those that are interested I made a triple negative and the evil damage does work on all mobs. I did not use unholy as the DDO WIKI defines that as alignment damage so I figured it wouldn't work. In any event, evil damage tested, unholy was not.

?Utterdark blast should work on anything, including evil enemies.

The reason for this is because of how Unholy, and (Pure evil burst) work.

Unholy: An un holy weapon is imbued with unholy power. This power makes the weapon evil-aligned. Good characters wielding this weapon suffer a negative level. The weapon deals an extra 2 to 12 damage against all targets of good (http://ddowiki.com/page/Good) alignment.

EG: only works on good aligned.

Evil burst: This weapon is imbued with the power of evil and deals 1d6 points of evil damage to all of non-evil alignment. Additionally, all targets of non-evil alignment take an extra 3d6 damage on a critical hit for weapons with a x2 critical multiplier, 4d6 for a x3 multiplier, and 5d6 for a x4 multiplier.

EG: works on anything BESIDES evil.

Utterdark blast just does evil damage, without any requirements. So it does not check alignment before it does damage.

(For the record, I'm pretty sure evil damage is boosted by http://ddowiki.com/page/Radiance_(spell_boost))

Your confusion about the gs alignment bursts is justified: Rather than using Holy/Unholy burst, they used Pure good Burst/Pure Evil burst instead.

Is Evil Damage (specifically from the Warlock's Utterdark Blast) boosted by the Heal skill?

Or is it boosted by spellpower? Or neither?

Alignment damage is boosted by radiance/light spellpower and the spellcraft skill.
