How might one create a barbarian build that had a flavor/ focus on "on being hit" effects for 1 - 20 play? Multi classing is acceptable provided the build will result in a barbarian past life upon TR

Are you saying you want a barb with lots of guard effects? That's...less than ideal, but the obvious splash is FvS 4+: 6 APs in AoV for Shield of Condemnation, 25 APs in WP for Light Guard+Ameliorating Strike. You'll also want I Hit Back! from Ravager, so let's say 36 APs to get Crit Rage & Blood Strength as well. That leaves 13 APs, which is just enough to max out Arcane Encumbrance. Alternatively, you could do barb 12 / FvS 4 / bard 4 and put those 13 APs into Swashbuckler for Elegant Footwork; either way you get a knockdown guard effect.

After that, it's a matter of picking up gear with as many guard effects as possible: e.g., Wind Bracers (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Bracers_of_Wind) for Air Guard, Rock Boots (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Rock_Boots) for Stone Prison & Earthgrab Guard, Beholder Plate Armor (http://ddowiki.com/page/Beholder_Plate_Armor) for Telekinesis Guard or Templar's Bastion (http://ddowiki.com/page/Templar%27s_Bastion)for Light Guard.

If you can somehow manage the AP there's also Aura of Radiance in Sunelf tree. Actually another bit of synergy with shield of condemnation.

Interesting idea, but that's 18 APs, though, which would mean dropping either Light Guard (swapping one guard effect for another) or T5 Ravager (which is...unwise). Plus you'd either need to LR +1 out of that initial cleric level or do barb / FvS / cleric, which isn't ideal either.

Anyway, just messing with the build to see what I can come up with...
