I don't get the point of this post. A PC can have goggles, trinket, necklace, 2x Rings, bracers, belt, armor, boots, gloves, weapons and a quiver. Of those 12 items most players are going to have at least 8 named items in those slots by level 20. So I guess go to the DDO wika and look up items because a ton of named items are being used.

I think he's saying the lootgen pass further pushed named items to the trash pile after ghostbane did the same to a lesser degree a few years ago. He's asking what is still useful in todays game. Bottom line, anything with a unique request not available in lootgen...
ie mace of smiting.

I still like the Sunblade. At 6th level, it is hard to beat.
At 20th level, the Star of Day swords are also very nice.
Of course, Celestia rocks at 23rd level!

A lot of the named weapons will be better than the new lootgen, especially the ones with non-standard crit profiles - in fact, since they changed how improved critical works by granting a fixed increase to threat based on weapon type rather than straight doubling, those weapons' base crit range was increased to compensate & keep them performing the same, meaning they've been defacto boosted for those without the relevant IC feat.
Aside from weapons, a few i always try to keep an eye out for:
Golden Guile
Seal of Dun'Robar (tendon slice version.. new loot is limited to 6% chance, this is 10%)
Boots of Corrosion (great for archers to boost acid arrow imbue) - rock boots too
Cannith boots of propulsion
Jidz-Tet'Ka
Basically anything that provides an effect that you can't get elsewhere :)

Whirlwind. I used that sucker until level 12.
Should say I got the old ML 8 version without augment slot.

Nightforge Spike remains the best thrown item (for a non-shuricanon) until level 28 (and the new Epic Return to Sender).
Bracers of Wind at level 5 is still amazing (especially for a druid SLA build).
PLiF obviously.
The Torc on the right build.
Backstabber Gloves.
Despite the quality to be found on new loogen, many, many old named items stand tall.

Yes. With the new loot it seems I am re-gearing my character but the items I listed seems at least for me anyways cannot be replaced by the new loot.

Or anything that has several useful abilities, instead of one useful and one (or two) useless ones.

If the inference is what named gear is still good compared to the new random loot, I would say most, if not all, named items that were considered good before are still good now. I have yet to see any one-to-one comparison to the contrary. I have heard a lot of outrage over one stat being higher on random loot than named here or there, but those claims always discount the other multiple effects on gear as if they have no significance in establishing an item's value or utility.

Cannith Boots of Propulsion
Orcish Privateer's Boots
Kundarak Delving Boots
Quiver of Alacrity
Royal Guard Mask
Bauble
Heroic Greensteel
Kormor's Belt
Amarath belts/necklaces
Pale Lavender Ioun Stone
Jewelled Cloak
Epic Dusk Heart
Jack Jibbers Blade
Qezuzu
01-18-2016, 02:56 PM
All weapons with expanded crit ranges (except those outclassed at their ML by some other weapon with an expanded crit range)
All items with unique/rare clickies (Jibber Blade, Epic Wolf Whistle, Visors of the Flesh Render, Nyoko's Necklace, Morah's Belt, etc.)
All items with properties not seen on lootgen (most orbs, Mysterious Cloak, Sightless, spell absorbtion, etc.)
All items that provide unique effects for their gear slot (e.g. Epic Ethereal Bracers are only bracers with Deadly)
There's plenty. It doesn't mean that they should go back and dump up the values for old loot so their stats are more in line (e.g. all the s/s/s epic items that have +6 stat, when +10 is available on lootgen at ml20) but named items are useful enough. If a named item is useless, that is a problem with the item itself, not lootgen.

Though many of mine are already said, I think my favorite is the original Maelstrom (ML 2 unbound version.)
That + cornflakes + ML 8 bound Maelstrom gets you with a good weapon for most of a heroic life.

Pity we can not trade these.

Now that I have started doing some more heroic lives I appreciate having my old Silver longbow more than ever.
This. Truthfully one of my favorite weapons along with the bow of sinew, heroic sos, carnifex, and my all time favorite lowbie weapon: rusted shamshir. Dual level 4 keen scimitars.
Epic Wolf Whistle.
The confusion it causes in Legendary HoX is just to **** funny.

There are quite a few
Things im having a hard time replacing right now.
Gilvaenors Set
Pinion (fully upgraded), yes i have the ToEE bow SapphireSting, and I crafted a Mythic T1 Electric one with a Robe and even the Set feels weaker.
Heroic Litany still nice as a filler gear when you can set your main stats even.
Drow Rings
Quiver of Alacrity (often have to use this much longer then i would because ranged alacrity is way too rare)
Lots of the U27/U28 weapons are absurdly OP too, no dice to find anything close on the supported weapon types.

There is a lot of named items that just can't be replaced. Some of my favorites are: Silver Longbow. Voice of the Master. Serpent Branch. Pinion. Ring of the Ancestors. Mummified Bat (I think that's what it is called from Sorrowdusk?) That's all I can think of this early in the morning lol.

I leveled 1-30 recently. Many of the named items I had set aside for this life, sat in the tr cache. At 27 I was only wearing 4 named items, put three more on at 28. Didn't bother farming any level 30 named because I Etr/tr back to 1. I'm not saying there aren't still some great named items, especially weapons. However your overall power level is likely going to be higher running loot gen gear, with a few exceptions.

There's a slew of named loot that still holds up. Not limited to:
Chain of Conviction (or any of the Abbot turn in armor)
Twinblade, Severe, Deathnip, and the rest of the tome turn ins
Ring of Lies
Treason
Buckler of the Demonic Soldier
...Ok...so that got real Bard heavy real fast. But there's oodles of good stuff, and the new loot gen is a solid complement.

Many of the raid gear is still viable as well as epic orchard gear. The greatest differential between U29 loot and previous named items is the synergy between powers.

I have a Pinion, but situationally? I like Serpentbranch with one of the 2% chance proc rubies, and a level appropriate ruby. I currently have one set up for 12/16/20. Since the proc ruby goes off the weapons ML, and the secondary ruby adjusts the ML of the weapon. So it's possible to proc 20-400 x damage, depending on which proc ruby you're using.
As to the topic:
Flint, which can be set up as the Serpentbranch can.
Blood Machete, for the same reason.
Some of the stuff I'd suggest has already been listed, such as Golden Guile, Epic Utility Vest, Epic Phiarlan Mirror Cloak, Epic Midnight Greetings, etc. I've seen some nice stuff in the random loot, but frankly, not much to replace named gear that I'm currently using in my set up.

Yes this exactly. Then take it to the stone of change and add the +1 force damage per hit to it. Throw in the poison quiver and your good to go.

These drop in the Xorian Cypher room with the 3 locked doors and trapped chests. As far as I know they are still dropping there. I have pulled about 5 or 6 of them and I always carry three on me which is usually enough GH to get me through most quests (I put them up for roll now - I don't need more than 3). Level 9 GH available to all classes and races is very handy. I just put them on my hotbar and swap them in for the GH and then back to my normal belt.
Not sure about the ring.
