Thank you!

I went for a formal cut-off, but in reality it's when I get into work on Wednesday and start to go through the applications. :) So let's call it 11:59pm Eastern on the 19th.

The 2015 Council did not see anything from the 2014 Council. May be the same for the 2016 Council (won't see what the 2015 Council worked on).

We are launching our search for the next DDO Players Council! Please read this post (and FAQ), and decide whether you’d like to apply. We will be taking applications through Tuesday, January 29th, 2016. Thanks, and good luck!
Might want to update the Intro and Application page as it looks like someone typo'd "29" instead of "19"... especially since the 29th of Jan is really a Friday! ;)

You should apply. The time comitment is not bad at all. You will have access to a sub-forum off the main forums if on the Council. The 2016 Council will get update 30 to give feedback on. Hopefully cool 10th anniverssary stuffs. 2016 would probably be a good year to be on the Council. I think it would be neat to give feedback on U30.

Any questions asked in the application should not be read as commitments to any particular project.
I recall Wizards of the Coast (they own D&D and license DDO) once had an application process for assistant card designer with the question:
"If you could eliminate a base card type (creature, artifact, instant, sorcerer, enchantment), which one would you eliminate and why?"
Now obviously, eliminating any would be a huge mistake, but it did show the level of intelligence and feedback a player could imput.

Requirements for Applicants and Nominees:
• Maintain an active play style during the council’s term of service. (“Active” to be determined by Turbine at its sole discretion.)
• Be in generally good standing, with no significant violations of Turbine’s Terms of Service, End User License Agreement or Community Guidelines. Having forum infractions does not mean you can't apply or serve, but is something we will consider on a case-by-case basis.
• Council business will be conducted primarily in English. Therefore we request applicants have the ability to communicate with the team and each other via written and spoken English.
• Be able to interact with other members of the Council and Turbine employees in a mature, constructive, and mutually respectful manner.
4. Are you over the age of 18?
I assume that you must be over the age of 18 to sign up then? It doesn't say you need to be over 18 to join in the requirements but it's asked in the form (question 4). If it is allowed and players under the age of 18 sign up, will being under 18 make it harder to get in?
Additionally, does country have any impact on whether or not you get chosen?

I vaguely remember this being brought up in 2014 (did not follow 2015), and its a good question that Cordovan needs to answer.
I vaguely recall that needing to make a NDA agreement, being over 18 is an important point, as you are an adult, but again Cordovan needs to clarify that.
It would not hurt to apply and see what happens, its only an email that takes hour to fill out.

I recall one of the half year replacements was from Brazil, so they do seem to want an international representation included.

I think technically you do need to be over the age of 18, because the NDA is a legal document, and you need to be able to agree to the NDA as a legally-binding adult.
The country doesn't matter, as long as you have the ability to play the game and communicate feedback in English.

I'll chime in to agree with others: if you're considering it, go ahead and apply. Since they want a diverse cross-section of the player base, you won't get left out just because you're not a hardcore raid fanatic. The time commitment is small, and if you're already on the forums, it's probably going to be invisible.

You would have to see his characters build and know his playstyle to understand that it was actually a nerf to his character. I may sign up for the council right? I mean I play a monkcher so maybe I can give some input on the barbarian class? I mean I did play one once for a very short time. That seems to be the way that this organization works right? Ask for a football players input and advice about brain surgery instead of asking a brain surgeon. DDO players council is regular people who the Developers is asking for input from???
The way it should be: DDO Developer = Dungeon Master = The Boss.
It's their game, we just play it. They should never take advice or input from players. The only things they should be asking us players is this: How bad is the lag? Where do you find the most lag? Do you find the current state of the game enjoyable?
If they do need ideas or input then they should take a players POLL.

For what it is worth there were a couple players that play(ed) Monkchers and other Ranged characters that were involved in the Discussions during the pass that was made.

I do not believe that what forum people think of anyone has anything at all to say. Even a few minor infractions are not necessarily a problem. If you think it could be fun and that you have something to contribute constructively with, apply away. It's up to Turbine, not the forum majority (or minority), who they want in on the Council.

I don't know if you've ever actually played DnD but it's always been a collabrative experience the DM is just the rules keeper and story teller...never the boss.
As for AA they got a huge buff the only issue with the changes is that they made ARCANE archer wisdom based...clearly they must have been catering to the whopping zero wisdom based arcane casters in DDO

My thoughts on why it is there is so that you can use that information to get a little more of a global spread for the PC to try and represent more people and be less biased towards one place's way of thinking.

Just a heads up that we have now sent email invitations for the 2016 DDO Players Council! Thank you again to everyone who applied - once again we had 300+ applications, which made our work difficult. Just a note that we also do have a list of alternates in the case that people we invite decide not to participate, or in the case that a position opens up during the term. We apologize, but we will not be sending "Sorry, didn't get in" emails.
That said, it's always difficult due to the large number of perfectly qualified people who didn't make this year's Council. We are sorry if you were hoping to get in but didn't.

What I mean is that I'll add you to the [[DDO:Ddowikivip (http://ddowiki.com/page/DDO_wiki:Ddowikivip)]] group so that you don't have to complete the CAPTCHA tests to prove you are human for 50 edits (when autoconfirmed kicks in). It also makes it so the [[DDO:Superuser (http://ddowiki.com/page/DDO_wiki:Superuser)]]s and above don't need to patrol all your edits and it gives you access to the writeapi which means that you'll be able to make edits using the scripts that I've been starting to put together to make editing easier in some places.

Well, 7/60 I suppose, I got a letter and replied, but not till I got home sunday, so I dont have the fancy title or anything. Also I promise, the name is deceiving, I made a throwaway account to try the game again when it went FTP, not expecting to stick around, and have been playing on and off since :). Kinda wish I could change the account name to be honest.
I am somewhat curious though, why the PC would need any more access to the wiki than anyone else? I mean with the NDA its not like we would be adding information in advance or anything. I don't in general do a lot of changes to wikis because usually by the time I encounter something, its already there.
Anyhow, I also figure I'll take a point to say the DDO wiki is quite possibly the best game wiki I have used, its clear, well laid out and incredibly helpful, so thank you for maintaining such a valuable resource.

Talk to Cordovan about it. Send him a PM with your preferred forum name and he can change it for you. He changed mine from "Technical_13" to "Shoemaker" last year upon request.

It's not "more" access to the wiki exactly, it's an accelerated user rights group change so that you don't have to prove that you are human for every edit right away instead of being required to wait until you have 50-100+ edits.
