Banishment

I am curious as to whether Banishment is broken.

The tool tip is giving it a huge save level much higher than my mass hold however even if it were similar (due to items that I crafted, I would have expected results to be the same. Most trash devils get held easily, however use banishment another will based save and nothing. I would have to think the spell is broken either with its DC or its using fortitude cause will based should be having far more effect. Anyone else having issues? Really outside of Amarath, Shroud and Demon web this should be almost a go too vs outer plannar creatures.

doesnt it still have the hd of the mobs subtracted from the dc?

DC = spell's save DC - creature's Hit Die + caster level.

The DC you see is much higher because the caster level is also added to the spell. Effectively the DC is much lower because it is reduced by the enemies hit die. Because the hit die is much higher than your caster level the spell won't work very often. It's basically the same problem that dispell has.

Thanks that makes sense and actually going back over the spell in the wiki says exactly that.

Guess its useless outside of vale then.
