Action buttons 1-0

Ok so I was playing this game on my 3 year old Razor laptop. Its well more than enough to run this game but it seems since the first ranger pass my action buttons the ones that go from 1-0 didn't like to work. At first I thought it was my laptop. Ok so I go out this Black Friday and spend 4k on a NEW Razor Laptop. Download ddo and log in and jump in a quest. Guess what? ITS STILL HAPPENING!

What am I doing wrong? I mean I just sunk 4k into a computer that I evidently didn't need in the first place. I push the buttons and nothing happens. I literally have to push them about 4 times before any action happens. Its getting really annoying and has caused me some death in quests. Is this WAI to sell cakes?

And no its not my internet connection I know this because I work for a ISP company. I have checked my connection myself and it is probably better than what our Space Program uses.

Seriously? Hardware issues on 3 separate laptops? All 3 doing the same thing. I am at a friends house right now using her Dell laptop. Same problem even using a different ISP.

Yes, that is one of the deficiencies with the barbarian class, they have difficulties differentiating between 0's and 1's and all that button mashing? Whew!

Laptops have overlapping keys. Are you sure that when you press the 1-0 keys on your laptop that it is actually the keypress of 1-0 that gets sent to the system and not some other value that is tied to the same key? Check for NumLock, Fn keys. Check what is typed in chat.

Finally, ensure that the action bar you want to use is active and not some other.

Consider doing two things to help trouble-shoot. Take a screenshot of your character/hotbars and link an image of your laptop keys (sorry I'm too lazy to find an online image of your laptop). In addition, consider opening a text document or using keylogger and pressing your action buttons. See what is recorded versus what you press.

Also, I'll second Darkmits, check the numlock and FN keys.

Because honestly, if there was some problem with Barbarians and the 1 - 0 action buttons, this would have been trumpeted all over the forums for a while given the likelihood that many of the numerous people that jumped on the barbarian band-wagon a while ago would have run into the same issue. I haven't seen that, have a barbarian as well and had no troubles with the 1 - 0 action buttons. So it feels like there is something unique to your situation without additional evidence of a trend. And tracking down what is unique will probably (no guarantees) require a closer look at your hotbars, laptop keys, and key-mapping. (I believe you can see what hotbar you have active by yellow border around it, but I'm a bit hazy at the moment)

Also, do you like the new laptop for reasons other than being a 4k troubleshooting exercise? If so keep, if not return (assuming no restock fee). A three year replacement cycle is probably not too much for an average gamer, though you can likely have more time between replacements, especially if your primary game is just DDO.

Try Pressing [CTRL + The Number of the hotbar] you want active. It should make it the default hotbar again.

well I have tried now on 3 separate computers at 3 separate locations and I'm still having the same problem Im having to push the buttons 1-0 at least 3 times sometimes 4X before any action occurs.

So they work, just not on the first try. Have you tried a different keyboard just to eliminate that as a possibility?

Is this with a two weapon fighter during combat? I find hot keys don't fire sometimes during combat animations and TWF's seem to have it happen the most. Often with cool down counters that start and quickly reset.

Why yes. Its a Barbarian with 6 levels of Tempest Ranger and 2 levels of rogue. Using longswords. one in each hand. Actions like Sunder, trip, a thousand cuts, dance of death are assigned to the keys of 1-0 and I have to push the buttons like 3 to 4 times before my character actually performs the attack.
