View Full Version : Rats time in MM. Any useful guides?

I am aware of the multitude of incomplete tools that tell a player where to hunt specific creatures by name. But I am trying to find some places to bulk hunt general creature types in order to complete those kill counts.

If no guides exist I wonder if there are any nice ideas for places to bulk kill rats since that's first on my list.

Its not really a guide but it might be useful for what you want.

That is exactly in conflict with what I wanted.

But first place that comes to mind for rats. Heroic Orchard of the macabre rat rare spawn.

Here are two tips:
* Shadows - Shadow of a Doubt
* Abishai - U27 and U28 content

Also, rest stop end fight has endless shadow respawns.
Which are also (umbral) rats, but they can only count for one. In this case shadows.

As for rats in general I don't think there's a great place to farm rats in DDO. I can't think of one at least.

fleshmakers lab, 10 second run down hallway for like 10 - 30 rats ( i honestly dont know how many there are but its like 2 mobs ) and i think the number is increased in epics, could be wrong on that.

In epics the rats are golems and fleshies. ;)

Heroic might be the best place indeed, but I don't remember being it that many (more like 5-10ish?).
It's at the start though, which is nice.

Rats - the Carcass Eaters rare if there is afaik 7 waves of 6 rats. But the rare can be, rare? Else there are just 3 Carcass Eaters and a few more throughout the wilderness. Not exactly ideal for farming. But since running up is just under one minute and there are at least a few on the way (usually 1-4 near the outlook explorer and at least 3 on the piles) maybe its best to begin there.

A good spot is Erie Forrest, directly after entering the hollow tree with the blood sacrifice. You may even get the rat rare there. And the whole wilderness has about 40 rats total. The drawback is the 3 dragon soul gems you need to enter there. One can be farmed in the Orchard (Carcass Eater rare) tho. The gem is quite common loot in Orchard.

I'm not sure there are any great places to kill rats "in bulk" but a couple of places that come to mind is:

Korthos Island and 3BC slayers (low level rats so easy to kill and reset map). The Red Fens is also good, although they are a bit more scattered there.

There are also rats in Missing and The Snitch

There are only few rats in 3BC and these are far and in between. You get more scorpions there. Or Hyenas. Korthos wilderness has them scattered. Most of them can be found around the Plaza where you go up to our beloved Heyton to save his backside. But you certainly will hunt more Sahuagin there than rats.

Too bad summons don't count. Otherwise you might could find a narrow spot over some lava some where and keep casting rodric's wand.

For bats and spiders there are the two rare spawn points in Lammania. Ohhh, there's also that small patch of rats right outside of the city gate that you could run kill recall reset on.

Bats - best farm quest is just plain good ol“ Coal Chamber.

I'm confused too, I was going to post the exact same link then saw your post and the OP's reply. Surely thats exactly what was needed? I mean, filter by animals>rats, choose a type of rat, tadaa! You don't even have to click a 'go' button or anything. OP, what's the issue with http://ddocrafting.info/mm/ ? Not saying there's a problem if its not what you're after, I'm just baffled!

EDIT: Reread the OP - are you saying this is one of the "incomplete" tools? Or is that you can't choose the top level i.e. just 'rats' and get all the results at once?

On the first one I am not in a position to judge, it may well be incomplete. Nevertheless, it knows a lot more than I do and its easy to use, so that's enough for me! On that second one I'd agree with you that this would be a nice addition to the tool in question - but I think its the best you're going to get for now, I've never seen anything better than the ddocrafting too when it comes to monster cataloguing. The wiki was always "good enough", but its not disloyal to say when something is better. And this is better.

In fact, I genuinely think its a brilliant addition to the fan-produced toolset, along with cubicleninja's tools and the canuck GS crafting tool. and DDMs realm. And Ron's character generator. And ED's builder. I've probably left some out. I think they're all amazing and I'm staggered that these people haven't been hired on the spot and asked to develop a cohesive whole 'playertools' suite (I would certainly contribute to that kickstarter. At least we know for sure the "prototypes" work and the developers are uncommonly persistent :) ). I know that's nothing to do with your OP, I just felt like I hadn't thrown enough praise their way recently, and this seemed an opportune time.
