What do you think is better? Would run in DC during epic. (Assuming burning a +5 heart to get back to FVS)

14 Paladin / 6 FVS -- leverage HS and KOTC, higher saves

14 Ranger / 6 FVS -- crit range from tempest and DWS, DOD, TWF bonuses

12 FVS / 5 Ranger / 3 Pally - saves, TWF bonuses and T5 tempest, some SD bonues (MRR/PRR with only 6AP) n- no evasion
12 Ranger/6FVS/2 Pally - slighly less saves (-3) but get crit range from tempest level 12 core and no feat to spend on TWF plus evasion

Both get you your past life with a +5 heart. Not sure why you are even looking at 14 Ranger unless you are dead set on getting FOM as a spell.

Hadn't gotten that far yet... 8)

I'd really like to try the light build, but I'm more used to melee, so I'm keeping a couple options working while I finish up the life I'm on now.

Thanks for the inputs!

If you are more of a melee type and don't mind using the LR+5 I would suggest the melee route.....Ifind the light based option underwhelming and somewhat finicky to play (my opinion so take it with a grain of salt).

Warpriest/Tempest - TWF with ameliorating strike (up to 3 procs with doublestrike - landing in the 150 range per hit depending on spell power and heal amp) is a pretty substantial source of self/group healing if you plan for it.

I had not yet played around with the new tempest and dws trees. There is a lot of nice stuff there.

The Ameliorating strikes are intriguing. The person i'll be grouped with most of the time will be a druid, so we should both be good at self healing. Do you think it is worth dropping stuff in tempest/dws to spend 23 points in warpriest? (I ask because I've never used it and I don't know how much value to put on it.)

If you're not fixed on the crit mult incr. from either Ranger (temp. + dws) or Paladin (holy sword) you could also do :
12 FvS / 5 Warlock / 3 Paladin

saves you a +5 heart even and is very decent melee + spell dps
has enough feats to take : max, emp, quicken, twf, itwf, gtwf + iCritical (heroic); oCrit and (Precision / Power Attack / completionist) for 21 + 24 Picks
Enhs : ES (35), WP (22), TS (6), SD(6), AoV(11)

even after the "balance" change of warlock it still has titanic survival abilitys and good dps with burst, blast, aura, bb, DP (for Bosses)

Enh : War (23
