As the ESoS will be nerfed once again, due to the IC changes in U28.1, could you please reverse the previous nerf, and change crit multiplier back to 4, making it 18-20/4 (and please do it retroactively)?
It's one of the rarest items in the game. It's kind of an iconic weapon. For some people it's taken years of farming to get one. It doesn't deserve to be nerfed any more.

Edit: Issue was resolved by Sev by extending crit range further on named weapons that already had extended crit range.

I would ask for all named quarterstaffs to be boosted.
I would only support this change, if they also change the swing animation sound of the ESOS to an audio file of Axer saying "DPS".
There has to be some downside.

eSOS hasn't had an x4 multiplier in five years. Would you also like to go back to pre-MotU / pre-U19 levels of DPS? I.e., no Deadly Weapons, no Blitz, no Holy Sword crit bonuses, etc.

agreed, they are just really tossing baby's out with the bathwater with these changes. Many very iconic and fun and not to mention HARD AS HELL TO GET named items are shuffled into the junk pile. Honestly this to me is worse than the completely unecessary victimization of Dwarves and Vanguard Paladins... I can TR into a Human like everyone else will, I can TR out of Paladin...
I can not TR the eSoS that took over 200 runs over 4 years to complete.

I'd settle with making it 17-20/3 as well. :)
With IC, it would be the same as today, disregarding enhancements, spells and EDs.

True, but arties came out after eSOS lost its x4 crit multiplier; so it was 10d6 15-20/x3, not 10d6 15-20/x4.
eSOS barbs will lose 2 effective hits (13-20/x3 -> 14-20/x3). eSOS pallies lose 6 effective hits (13-20/x4 -> 15-20/x4). eSOS Kensei will wonder why the heck they haven't TRed into a barb or pally yet. :p

Oh, sure. I've never seen the original ESOS.
The first ESOS nerf was in mid 2010, I didn't even play DDO back then. :D

Thoughts on named weapons and threat range:
~ We definitely do not, going forward, want Improved Critical to affect any bonuses to threat range for named weapons.
~ We are also sensitive to players who don't want to see existing weapon lose relative power.
We will be increasing the threat range of the following named weapons. I am including the new threat range which is increased to compensate for the loss of improved critical. Keep in mind that this will be on top of the threat range Improved Critical adds for weapon type, so with that feat Epic Sword of Shadows, as an example, would have a threat range of 6 and become 15-20.
I apologize for the short hand in listing the threat range - that number represents the base range of the weapon and should be increased enough to match the previous range with Improved Critical. As a side effect this will make some weapons more powerful if your character does not have Improved Critical.
Named Item: Base Threat Range
Epic Sword of Shadows: 4

(I believe we have all named items with a base threat range higher than their weapon type with this list.)

Hmm, this just loooked really funny to me, how do you unnerf retroactively? you make x4 damage to the monsters you did hit with your eSoS in the past? ... what does retroactively means in this context :D ?

It means changing all items that exist in game to the new version, not only the new ones that would get crafted after the change.
The augment slot change on old epic items for example was not done retroactively.
New crafted items after the change had the new augment slots. However, if you had an item that was created before the change, it kept the old slots (you can use an old item to craft a new one with the new slots though if you wish to).
I still have some old epic items with stuff like GFL in a yellow slot that I don't recraft beause of that.

Pretty much what Eth said above. Turbine have changed items at several occasions in the past without applying the changes to the old items, only new ones, i.e. no retroactive change, e.g. when changing a lot of chain reward items from BtC to BtA and when augments were added.
It would have been a "nice" twist to hear that ESoS would be enhanced, but you had to farm a new one to get the benefit. :)
