Here's a thought--make the abilities that give you bonuses on blocking also apply while you're tumbling. It'd make tumbling more interesting and valuable and give you a (moderate) ability to move around while turtled up--more if you invest. It'd also make it possible to use those abilities when it's necessary to "eat" a trap.
