This would be a Wizard Based Iconic race. This race would use a modified version of the human or half-elf model--not sure which one. I'll try to break down the tiers, from Core to Tier 4. Forgive my disorganization.

Core:

Arcane Study: Each AP spent in this tree grants 1 Universal Spell Power
Intelligence: +1 INT (2AP)
Arcane Power: +50 SP; +1 Spell Pen.
Intelligence: +1 INT (2AP)
Permanence: Choose a first level spell from this list. It is permanently cast on you, at your character level:
Nightshield, Prot Evil, Shield, Mage Armor, Expeditious Retreat, Feather Fall, Jump, Merfolk's Blessing, or Tumble.

Tier 1:

Arcane Buttress I: MRR 3/6/10
Steely Will: +1/+2/+3 Will saves
Ancient Whispers: 33/66/100 SP
Efficient Studies: All arcane spells that are not SLAs cost 1 fewer SP.

Tier 2:

Arcane Buttress II: MRR 3/6/10
Mnemonic Sensitivity: Effects which grant you SP are 33/66/100% more effective.
Elemental Resonance: You gain 5/10/15% resistance to an element of your choice.
Forceful Spellcasting: Enemies damaged by your spells suffer -1 to all saves for 10 seconds. This stacks up to 10 times.

Tier 3:

Arcane Buttress III: MRR 3/6/10
Magisterium Summoning 101: Summoned creatures, pets, and hirelings gain 10/20/30% more HP and +1/+2/+3 to all ability scores.
Your Sacrifice is Appreciated: Kill your summoned pet. For one minute, gain temporary HP equal to that creature's maximum HP.
Secret Spell: Cooldown 60 seconds. Your next spell uses 0 SP.

Tier 4:

Innate Eschew: Spells no longer require basic material components.
Shadows and Dust: 2d4 damage (1d4 fire plus 1d4 negative energy damage) per 2 caster levels in a ray spell. Cooldown 12/9/6 seconds. SP cost 10,7,4
Orb/Quarterstaff Mastery: (multi-select) While you have an Orb equipped you gain +3 to spell penetration checks, OR while you have a quarterstaff equipped, you gain +15 universal spell power.
Intense Study: Your caster level for (spell school you choose) is either your character level instead of your class level or is your caster level + 3, whichever is greater.

So what exactly is an Iconic class? How does this compare with the current Iconic races?

If you just typed the wrong name, and this is meant to work like existing Iconics, what race is it? What are the racial abilities?

I think he has confused the "Iconic" idea, the race/class. This seems more like another Harper style tree.

Sorry. Disorganized. I meant Iconic Race. Not sure which but a modified Human or Half-Elf model, with striking eye colors and iridescent auras and/or tattoos as a differentiating feature.

I meant for it to be a racial tree, but who knows?

This is a really poor idea for an iconic. It's not a racial subtype, for one, and it's using a name that's already on an epic destiny.

If you're gonna make suggestions it's really best to make some effort to understand the general thrust of the existing game first, yknow?

Not a fan of the 'universal' trees like Harper. But if something like this was an alternative human racial, or an iconic racial, or just another Wizard PrE, I would certainly be interested. Not sure its needed sooner than an arti pass or a druid bear pass or things like that... but far as I'm concerned nothing wrong with adding it to the list :)

Edit: Specifically, Your Sacrifice is Appreciated is lovely... but not before a general 'dismiss summons' feat for every class that can summon, please!

What? If I called it a Red Wizard of Thay, would it THEN be iconic? Minutiae.

Wizards of thay are typicaly human. though that was before the spellplague, which the forgotten realms section of DDO is post spell plague.

The wizard's governtment was ran by a council of 8 mages. 1 for each specializtion of magic. Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Evocation, Enchantment, Illusion, Necromancy, and Transmutation.

IN 1375(10 years before the spellplague) the Leader of the Necromancy wizards Szass tam killed the Evocation and Transmutation leaders, and created an undead army, which he then sent to attack his own country.
then he propositioned the rest of the leaders, that he would stop the undead army if they made him ruler of they. they said no. so he told the populace that the undead army wouldnt be stopped, which caused riots. so he went and summed a bunch of demons to kill the rioters, made undead out of them. he then blamed it on the Conjuration leader, endearing the public to him. then he "defeated" the undead army, and proclaimed himself the ruler of thay.

So Wizard of Thay, a specialist in one of the Schools.

I would much rather see a Shifter Moonspeaker.
New race. and a (hopefully) +2 wis race..

Exactly.

So the new Iconic would be called...Human Red Wizard of Thay.

Not very exciting, is it?

Can we please forget about adding more Iconics now?

I would agree that shifters should be added as a standard Eberron playable race. No way should they be added as an iconic one.

I want taco as a new iconic race. Toppings for enhancements. Increase hate gen and defenses based off amount of hot peppers used. Be better then seeing another human running around. Just think of being killed by a taco barbarian.

Op: good things to think about for a wizard pass, but so not a race.
