Does Celestia count as a bastard sword for the purpose of PDK charisma to damage? Is it still unaffected by Improve crit slashing? Does casting Holy Sword on it break its DR?

Don't know about the other two things but Celestia, as far as feats go, is a shortsword so you need "Improved Critical: Piercing."

Its a shortsword. As to the dr, beats me.

I know it counts as a short sword. Before my break from DDO, Celestia was only affected by improved crit piercing, not slashing, but gave glancing blows like a bastard sword. In PnP, sunblades are supposed to be treated as either a short sword, or bastard sword, whichever is most beneficial with respect to feats. I assume they haven't fixed it to work with improved crit slashing, but figured I would ask.
There were no PDKs before my break, but since Celestia does s glancing blows like a bastard sword, I hoped it also worked with PDK charisma to damage like a bastard sword.

Doesn't matter if it qualifies as a bastard sword PDKs get CHA to Short swords also so no sweat there.
Depending on what you're doing CHA to hit and Damag might not be that great compared to using say Divine Might (if you can fit a Cleric lvl or some Paladin)* and using a better weapon. That said hard to beat Spinal Tap for DPS these days
* because 70 CHA is fairly topped out and = 30 mod, while 40 STR + 70 CHA Divine Might also = 30 mod, but frees you to use any weapon synergy you might want and you can rage, primal scream, titan glove, madstone boots far more STR on top of that. Just something to think about.

I didn't notice shortsword was on the PDK weapon list for the CHA to damage ability. I guess that makes my question moot. I have a Celestia sitting unused on a character who is currently a monk but who started as a paladin and will be returning to paladin soon. I'm just trying to decide whether I should make her human again or to grind out 5000 favour for PDK. Or maybe just buy the expansion.

CHA to damage doesn't work all that well for Paladins anyway, because you then basically lose out on divine might which gives a str bonus.

That is 6 AP if you want DM to have a good duration. I went with that option last time I did a pally life as KotC was the only viable tree then. Now that S&B doesn't suck, I am thinking of saving those AP for more vanguard abilities and also making one less buff to keep track of by just going straight CHA based for combat.

Does casting Holy Sword on it break its DR?
Nope.

the wiki on Celestia links to a thread here with a host of different answers! I found that my pure ninja SWF came up with glancing blows and had no bastard sword proficiency. That was a while ago...

Celestia will provide glancing blows as long as you have bastard sword proficiency, & are SWF/S&B, the typical restriction for bastard sword glancing blow procs (won't get em if you're TWF). As it is still typed as a shortsword, Improved Critical: Pierce is needed to expand its crit profile.
Paladin's Knight of the Chalice light damage cores will bug it to slashing
Divine Crusader's Blessed Blades will bug it to your alignment
Tested on a bsword-proficient S&B Bladeforged paladin with Improved Critical: Pierce while writing this.

It depends. I had builds where it worked and I had builds where it didn't (on the very same character even).
I never did enough testing to nail down when excactly it works and when it doesn't, but then I never made a S/B build, so I didn't really care in the first place.
Definitely seen both though, it working and it not working.

Sunblade, Celestia and the Star of day, all do glancing blows if single weapon fighting or sword and shield fighting, NOT on two weapon fighting

Is that with or without bastard sword prof?

I never had bastard sword proficiency on any of my toons and they all got glancing blows normally with those three

Just be careful they don't get the exact same glancing blows as two-handed weapons. The animation is different

So if Celestia gets Glancing Blow damage, will the THF line improve the amount of Glancing Blow damage as well as improve the chance to trigger other weapon effects? If I get the THF line, will I be able to pick up the SWF line as well or are they mutually exclusive?

I have another question regarding Celestia.
I've always wanted to know whether its Sunburst light damage was increased by Light spellpower and likewise, is its Fiery Detonation damage increased by Fire spellpower?

Yeah, I just saw that on the wiki. Thanks.

I would assume the answer is no, since you are not the one casting it.

I think you're probably right but I just wanted someone else's input. Celestia is weird. I never would have thought its Sunburst or Fiery Detonation would trigger on a shuriken as long as you had Celestia in your offhand so I wondered if there might be any other weirdness associated with it regarding spellpower.
