Riftmaker versus Shinning devastation?

Which one is better?

Short answer: Shining Devastation

Long answer:
It depends.
They are extremely close if your character had no other damage modifier, no seeker and no doublestrike, with a slight edge to shining devastation in terms of damage.
The more damage modifier, seeker and doublestrike you add, the further shining devastation pulls ahead.

Unless you fight a target that qualifies for banishing. In that case Riftmaker is better up until a damage modifier of around 150, where both weapons are pretty much equal again. Obviously a damage mod of 150 is completely unrealistic on a lvl 14 pally.


Edit: I made the assumption you would use the appropriate improved crit. feat in each case (Bludgeoning for Devastation, Slashing for Riftmaker).

Thanks I was actually getting similar result and assumed I had some math wrong :/
