DUNGEONS & DRAGONS REBOOT / 3 AUG 2015
NEW DUNGEONS & DRAGONS MOVIE GOES FORWARD NOW THAT LAWSUIT IS SETTLED

216 “This is such an enormous opportunity to bring the rich fantasy setting of the Forgotten Realms to life."

BY EVAN CAMPBELLWarner Bros., Hasbro and Sweetpea Entertainment have announced a new Dungeons & Dragons film is in the works, now that the companies have settled a years-long legal dispute over who held the screen rights.

Back in 2013, Hasbro was working with Universal on a new Dungeons & Dragons movie, while Warner Bros. and Sweetpea developed their own film. Hasbro then sued Sweetpea over rights to make a new film, but the companies have now compromised in an undisclosed arrangement and are proceeding forward with this project.

Orphan and Wrath of the Titans screenwriter David Leslie Johnson has already penned the script for the new Dungeons & Dragons. The producers for the film are Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis, of Hasbro; Courtney Solomon and Allan Zeman, of Sweetpea; and Roy Lee, who's previously worked on The LEGO Movie and How to Train Your Dragon.

“This is such an enormous opportunity to bring the rich fantasy setting of the Forgotten Realms to life and, together with the creative powerhouse of Warner Bros., use movies to tell the stories that have enchanted passionate D&D fans for decades,” Davis said. “D&D is the role-playing game that started it all and now we have the opportunity to ignite a franchise for its legions of avid fans in a way never done before.”

Great news, if the movie it successful. they can relaunch the game. raise money to get: New servers, team, new races, classes, spells, updated graphics etc etc

Uh, you know they're not gonna get a cut of the movie money, right? The best they can hope for is that it brings a little bit of attention to the game, but that's it.

DDO can release a new paid expansion based on the story line and themes of the upcoming D&D movie, to coincide with the movie's release. Age of Conan did this with the most recent Conan movie, Conan the Barbarian, in 2011.

The marketing department should definitely be thinking of promoting DDO to coincide with the movie release. It's *Free Advertising* if done correctly, and as long as the movie isn't a dud, should not reflect badly on the game itself. Even if that turned out to be the case, I would still spin it in a heartbeat.

Ok, Hollywood made an attempt to show you what it's all about. Now, log into DDO and start your real adventure!

Not gonna happen, WB will probably take money from dudes that make NWO or some new single player D&D game rather than use this opportunity to advertise turbine. As always.
