View Full Version : Spirit Blast - "Not Facing Target" bug? (and Eldritch Burst)

I've noticed during combat that if I have a creature targeted, and that creature is behind me or out of range, I cannot hit Spirit Blast or Eldritch Burst. These are supposed to simply blast out from the caster, and share a cooldown with Great Cleave and Cleave, respectively. Those feats (Cleave & Great Cleave) do not require targeting creatures in front of you, or at all for that matter. They always work no matter what you're doing, where you are, or what you're facing. Presumably, Spirit Blast and Eldritch Burst should behave similarly, especially since they are body-centered actions ("Fire...an AOE centered on you...").

It would seem that these enhancements were created with a code template from arcane spells, but adjusted such that they require 0 spell points and have a specific cool down. The code template has targeting requirements like being within range, not being blocked, and facing the creature. These requirements are still in place for Spirit Blast and Eldritch Burst, yet neither action should require any of these things.

Can this please be investigated and corrected for an upcoming patch/update? It is very frustrating having to target, or untarget, when in the midst of combat and just trying to pop off a blast.

Just wanted to add one more specific instance where this happens:

If I have an object selected, such as a vase, and it is "blocked," Spirit Blast will fail to go off. This happened in Old Tomb, New Tenants last night.

This happens to me too. All the time, and in every quest. I have to make sure I don't have anything targeted just in case my target suddenly appears behind me. It's not so much a problem on my melee Bladeforged Warlock, but on my pure caster....it's very problematic. They really need to fix this, and hopefully soon.
