View Full Version : Demon Assault -- Possible bu(s)g in end fight?

So I tried soloing EE Demon Assault the other day on my quest for that darned khopesh....thinking EE would give a better drop rate.....anyway I got through the main part ok - a couple of deaths to the Symbol of Stunning with a side of Champion Reaver..... but the res shrine is close throughout so I was able to plug away and I made it to the end fight..

So I get to the end fight and it's a tad tougher than I anticipated between the Red Named and his reaver friends with the respawns. So I decide to DDoor - rebuff - use the shrine I skipped and re enter the end fight.....well (possible bug #1) even if you aren't there the spawns continue to trigger and woop as soon as I enter the room - red alert - so here I go kiting at Mach 0.000001 healing, bursting, healing, bursting etc... but not really getting anywhere then the boss flings me in the air and I am able to float out to a side room(possible bug #2).....I return to end fight but the spawns stick at the door and won't leave (possible Bug #3)- so I try to enter by jumping past them but just end up floating over the group.....luckily boss flings me up and I float to side room again - this time though the boss somehow follows me (Possible bug #4) and makes my life easy in that I am able to beat him down without the spawns around me which in the end is pretty easy. Additionally it seems there are some random barriers up as he could step into one of the other side rooms but I couldn't follow him (so I backed up and he came back into that room).

So I get the boss down and I call on some guildies to share in end chest and help me deal with spawn swarm at the door thinking it was an unending spawn and with red alert I would be fubarred by now. So guildies come in and we clean up maybe 10 or so spawns left and notice that (Possible bug #5) the respawns have stopped (either there is a limit to how many spawns happen on purpose or it's a bug). Anyway we loot and get nothing (definite bug if you ask me because the RNG just hates me).

Anyway thats my cool story - a few possible bugs I noted. The key one being flung out of the room and having the boss follow me which trivializes the end fight to an extent.

I haven't bug reported it because I am unsure if it's a bug.....I also don't know how repeatable it is as I may just have gotten lucky finding a gap in the invisible walls after I got flung up and the boss was in just the right place to be able to follow me.

So if it has happened to you please let me know and I will bug report it OR if a Dev can respond and say whether it is truly a bug or not.

That's definitely a bug, as the devs have said:

"As a general rule we don't intend for a single spawn area to cause any dungeon alert, and certainly not red dungeon alert. This basically isn't ever a goal in our designs"

except it should of read

"as soon as I got back and re-entered the room"

he left after the fight began and came back to red alert. Sounds WAI to me.

Yes that would have been the proper wording - I was able to complete the quest by grabbing the scroll but couldn't get the chest without a little help.

Reran today on another character just on hard and I noticed that from the inside there is a gate that blocked the entrance and after it was all done I jumped around at all the walls and didn't find any cracks so I think the telekinesis toss got me above the invisible walls.

New bug yesterday - after the patch went live I ran demon assault again. Just on eH as I am just farming for that darned Khopesh and 4x faster is better than 2x the drop chance (if it is even that much).

This new bug - I killed the boss right by the pedestal where the Codex page is and quickly Q'd to select the page and E to pick it up while i was still dealing with the spawns. But somehow I broke the quest since I didn't get completion but the page was gone and the pedestal it sat on was the broken blackened version that shows up after you take the page on a normal completion.

I am not sure if it was that I killed the boss right by the Codex page and he blew it up OR if I just grabbed it faster than the quest objective generated - I tried to screenshot it but I messed up and didn't get one.

I went right back in and did it again and this time killed the boss well away from the pedestal (I was trying to force him over to the pedestal where the page sits but he wouldn't cooperate) and had no problem at all.

So bug fix is probably be patient and not grab the page so fast. Alternatively have the quest objective to get the page populate once you enter the end fight.

Not really WAI in my opinion. I had a very similar problem on the very first run of this quest. I reached the NPC that told me "west is boss, east is whatever" except the map shows ways to the north and south. So I went south, looked through the door, saw the boss and went back to the optional. I didn't know that my short look inside triggered anything (the spawns). When I killed the optional miniboss and used the portal, I ended up in the room completely full of reavers/flensers and red alert.
