View Full Version : Lost streak after surpressing

My husband and I have both lost our streaks after trying to surpress it to run Fire on Thunder Peak. Is this a known issue? My streak was nearly 2000 on hard, his was 1300. It feels like a punch to the gut to have lost it. It was a record of how many quests we'd run together. I'd never broken, he'd broken only once on accident.

Can anyone confirm, or is this not meant to work on raids or something?

I've run an EN fire peak, with my streak suppressed. It worked for me - streak was preserved. So it probably -should- work, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were bugs in the system.

I've lost it too. Paused it shortly after the update and run EN Defiler.

Can't say I care much anymore because I am getting to the point of thinking of uninstalling the game. Go Turbine.

Heard a few reports of this in game as well so it is definetely happening.

Hmm, several reports, so it seems this is a thing, indeed. I think it would be useful to know more about this - races, classes, levels, quests/raids, etc.

Can't be bothered to do this, sorry. This is not the first time (well it's everytime, who am I fooling) they released some cra p without any kind of testing. Then they never go back and fix it, unless it harms 95% of the customers who then have to come to the forums and make a huge uproar of cancelling subs and leaving the game to get any kind of compensation or a lousy fix even.

Use the bravery marshall standing on the top deck of your airship or on the hall of heroes.

There is an NPC on the ship and in the HoH:

There is now an NPC in the Hall of Heroes and on guild airships that allow a character to temporarily suspend their Bravery Bonus. This is a toggle, and will remain in effect until toggled again by speaking to the NPC. The Bravery Bonus will not reset nor increment when suspended.

I do not disagree that the track record is not... well, perfect. I don't blame you.

But if we want to better the chance of getting a fix, even if the chances are still slim, it would be useful information. So if anyone out there experiences this, and has the time and temperament to submit a bug report on it, it might just help.

Or maybe I'm an incurable optimist. Or deranged. But anyway :)

Did nay of you who lost your streak perform a reincarnation of any sort? (lesser/true/epic/iconic) I noticed that your streak gets turned back on afterwards so if you then ran a quest on normal without noticing that would cause you to loose your streak. Almost lost it on my bard because I didn't expect a lesser reincarnation to change that.

Very interesting. If you can turn it off and on at will, it makes the whole construct of bravery bonus meaningless. Why not simply just add bravery bonus to hard/elite runs?

This has been suggested heh. But some people like their streak numbers, it seems, so now we are stuck with a pointlessly complicated mechanics instead.

Read by QA!

I've got one bug report about this issue in our queue that I'm looking into. Additional reports (especially those that include specifics about the characters that had their streaks reset, which NPC you visited to suppress your streak, as well as which quest on which difficulty you completed that ended your streak) will go a long way in helping us pin down the root of the issue.

I can second this - I had suppressed my streak to do EN Defiler day 1... Got frustrated with lag and went ahead on my ER train. Went to turn it back on and realized it had already turned back on with ER... #suprise

I can confirm ETR and Lesser TRs turn your streak back on. I got lucky on mine that after I LRed and ran an MOD, I had already ran it, so streak was not lost.

Outside of that situation, though, have not noticed any issue with turning streaks on/off.

I did not perform any kind of LR/TR/ETR.

This is only heads up for people who care about their numbers.

Is it so that if you do a quest on Elite or Hard difficulty while eligible for the bravery bonus and you've frozen your streak the hard and elite tickers continuous from 0 again?
Or are these tickers "reset" when entering an explorer area?

Edit:
How can I put this without embarrassing myself while adding one more to the report?

There was an old discussion about being capped and running quests you've never run before not being counted:
https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/405814

This, I believe, is how I lost my 2500 streak.

Good to know, I am not alone with this feeling.

I'd suggest to get rid of pointless mechanics. Counter meaningless > 5, virtually no streak break due to suppression, lot of support resources that can be saved. Just perma-grant the bonus. just my 0.02

This has been suggested right after bravery was introduced, but nothing ever happened with it :(

Well, I am not deep into ddo these days, empty servers/lfm, lag has taken their toll. But this also means I am not reading release notes on a regular basis. That is why my comments are often a few months too late. :)

No, it actually does not.

How not? If something is too difficult, hey, you just turn it off. Where's the "bravery" in that? What's "brave" about only being brave in running with streak on in stuff you are confident you can beat?
