Does anyone know whether the abilities on Strange Tidings stack with other items like Backstabber's Gloves or Seal of House Avithoul?

The wording for the deception proc is:
Strange Tidings: "5% Chance on Hit. Your traget becomes bluffed for 4 seconds:
Ring of House Avithoul: "When using this item your weapons have a chance to envelop the target in darkness, making them vulnerable to sneak attacks fora short time.

These seem different to me

The wording for the damage part (excluding insightful) is:
Strange Tidings: On Sneak Attack: +8 to attack rolls, +16 to damage
Ring of House Avithoul: Provides a +5 to attack bonus and +8 to damage for any attack that would qualify as a Sneak Attack, even if the wielder is not a Rogue.

This seems like it could be the same so only the highest would apply, but then again the wording is different so I wanted to double check. I have no way at all to confirm whether the proc stacks. I am not noticing much difference in damage, but sometimes it does seem higher so it's hard to tell.

Does anyone know?

From what I understand the damage wouldn't stack as they are the same vinua, but because the seal uses improved deception and strange uses a new form of deception they will have separate rolls, so essentially they would stack.

However I've not done any testing on this because I don't have a normal deception item.

You could try checking nokowi's video where he tested the stacking of various combinations of deception. He did not test all possible combinations and I don't recall if deception/improved deception was one of them or not.

You can also test this yourself the same way he did – by keeping track of the number of times deception procs over a certain number of attacks (to get a percentage proc rate) under various conditions (i.e. different combinations of deception/improved deception). That's an awful lot of work though...

EDIT: A dev comment on how these work together would be awesome, even though we know from past experience that only in game player testing is truly definitive, it would at least let us know what we should expect.

I would assume that the highest damage would apply, but you get two checks for the bluff.

Deception and Improved deception won't stack, but the higher one (from seal of house avithul) would apply.

On the other hand, Deception VIII is something that was not on any other item before. So who knows how they coded this bonus...
Might behave different than other deception items.
