Are there any named googles useful for bards? I am tempted to switch my gs item from belt to googles and I'm trying to save my self from future embarrasement (I felt so smart to make a gs belt... right before e-necro IV)

on a melee bard i am using deadly / resistance
on a caster bard... I don't recall. It's one of the rare slots for +3 charisma though

I sometimes use these on my bard, but I can't recall what augment I put in the green slot. I do know I replaced it.

On the bard in my sig I use the Intricate Field Optics. Although they are a pita to acquire, it's the best source of insightful charisma 3 imo.

I got the INT version and not the CHA on those.

I've tried a few times to pull these, but was not lucky at getting this item either:

I think every time I've found the specific type of Intricate Field Optics I was looking for, I found it by farming the shard house. :D

I think the game must be sentient is some weird way. Want pinion on toon X. Had to get from 20th completion list. Toon that cannot use a pinions pulls one the other week on first ever run thru of CiTW. Same thing for the Twilight.

If you want +3 CHA, you pull +3 INT. You want a pinion, you will pull every other item but that one : ) )

Here is my fav. Ran GH quests ooodles of times for Jeweled Cloak. Finally get. Then one shows up on the shard exchange for 10 shards on the same day and it was EE : ) ) I bought it anyway.

One of the better laughers is that ground out TPS for the Huge Augment bag and the very next week the Colossal bag comes out : ) )

Don't worry I still love this game. Good times!

There must be an Easter Egg in game somewhere that is based on Murphy's Law or something like that!

I hear you about optics but isn't the pirate hat a much better and more useful item? I actually had both and never gave optics a second thought on my bard

other than the affore mentioned ever ellusive CHA+3 field optics, only thing I can think of would be http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Epic_Four_Eyes for the Spell Pen V on a Spellsinger CC build (as well as True Seeing and Green Slot, with the Wis+3 prly going to waste if you spent a feat for CHA to will saves)

However, you can get Spell Pen VII on a Thunderforged tier2, likewise ML26, plus, the new Shavarath epic loot offers Spell Pen VI and CHA12 on the raid cloak, which is pretty much a no brainer for bards ...

My bard has a ConOp belt which I have no choice but to lose at 27 for the necro con belt, want to move that, too and goggles is the most likely candidate I come up with as well, but still waiting a bit till I see what my gear will look like after new loots ...

(in higher lvl heroics there is http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Magewright%27s_Spectacles for spell pen and concentration if you dont have quicken yet, also, if used together with the http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Magewright%27s_Cloak the set bonus offers +1 DC)

Personally, I'm not real impressed with the Plundered Pirate Hat. If charisma matters to you, which it most likely does on a bard, then you're going to want more than charisma 8. Higher fortification is on every set of Thunder-Forged armor. True seeing can be scrolled if necessary, and it's on the Intricate Field Optics. Slots are more than plentiful on endgame gear. So imo, the only thing the Plundered Pirate Hat offers is the ease with which it can be obtained in comparison to the Field Optics, although from what I hear, it can be pretty elusive as well. In general, there are more/better helm options than there are goggle options, so if you're putting together an ideal gear set, I'd rather give up my goggles slot for insightful charisma 3. But of course the value of any of those options depends on your specific build and the rest of your gear set, neither of which we know anything about.

I should add that I've not considered U27 gear for my bard yet, so I don't know if any of those items changes the situation.

Oh we're sorta ignoring the +8 on it rest assured. That only matters between levels 24 and 25, on 26 there's already +11 cha waiting to be equiped. I do see your point though. This whole post is 'I can't find any good googles to wear' and indeed +3 cha optics are good googles, I just never thought to use googles for cha instead of helmet and equip a good helmet.... Now I wonder what new helmet from the new raid I could equip that is borderline awesome... lol

Thanks very much for the feedback guys, lots of ideas to chew on!
