Howdy folks!
I'm bringing Lamannia down shortly.
This coming Thursday, we will be reopening Lamannia with a new build in order to get feedback on the new raid of U27.
I will be online on and off throughout the day, joining parties and going into the raid itself.
No_Worries (The raid's designer) will be online with me from 8pm to 10pm Eastern (UTC-4) to observe raids, answer questions, and possibly even join a raid or two!

We were just running Minion Monday on DDOstream on Lamannia and got our butts kicked by CookieKobold :-(

Yeah, was watching DDOStream when the 30 second notice kicked in. Not enough time. Not good coordination.
But hey, stuff happens. Maybe next time it will be better.

Are you planning on lowering the saves to reasonable levels?

Just after I transfer my best toons to give them a whirl on EE I get this :(
Kinda bummer. Had some time this evening to check it out and DC'd in the third quest with 30 seconds notice.

Hey there, KookieKobold!
A bit more notice would have been appreciated considering our Minion Monday team was live on DDOStream from Lamannia. ;)

What time will Lamannia be back up, and will it be up all weekend, or only for the raid?

I'll be opening up Lamannia in the next 30 minutes (once i finish the final checks and make sure things are set properly).
The current plan is to only have it open for today for the raid testing and closing it in the morning (around 10am Eastern, UTC-4) tomorrow.

Only 24 hours for testing then? That's not enough time. I don't think you're going to get good feedback from having Lam open for a single day.

I wont be trying it myself, now i know i will hear it will come out with bugs and will need patch etc but atleast every detail wont be known so people will have to figure it out on live.

Its a mystery to me why you guys don't just keep the server open. It's a great resource.

Agreed. It also helps to be able to look at the toons we created/perfected on Lamannia so that we can replicate them (enhancements, etc.) on the Live servers.

Completely agreed. In the absence of any official character building tool, the dojo is great.

They don't keep the server open for simple economic reasons, nobody would be playing on live if there was a free to use server that gave you all the best loot with no effort required, where you could TR/eTR/iTR in minutes, again, with no cost and no time penalties. At the point that no-one was contributing funding, the game would collapse and close.

Testing builds is not purpose of server, its to test upcoming content and fill in bug reports.
And keeping it open probably costs money.
Would you pay a fee to have acces to it 24/7?

What fee?
On a bank of servers, what is really the cost of keeping the test one plugged in for general access vs restricted for inhouse access.
Setup script to cycle server resets to clear everything back to the defined startup, update as things need testing... walk away..
Players have idea's, questions or issues.. log on test stuff, submit bug reports.
Dev's read bug reports, log onto it whenever they need to test or trial stuff.. make changes..

Like most other mmo's: it becomes a regular server with all the perks you want: free points, all quests, power levelling, etc. You would see massive decreases in game population on live servers. UO has that problem, Wow, D3, etc. Test servers that are open all the time detract from profit making servers.

It may be true that the population on the live server would tank,
but if they have a reset cycle, I don't think it would be that big of a deal. There are many things I'd love to test out, but the live servers make it way too expensive and time consuming, so I'd rather spend that time and resources on something I'm confident I want to do.
Lesser hearts aren't even available in the **** game for crying out loud lol
