View Full Version : Bound to Character - replace it with all BTA like orchard

My biggest complaint in DDO is inventory management. When Tr'ing it can take an eternity to empty the TR cache and whats worse is you empty it, just to fill it again.
There have been many discussions around playing housing, TR bank etc, but i think the simplist resolutioon to this would be to remove BTC and change it all to BTA. This way I could keep a toom on my account (A mule) at lvl 28 and put all my gear ON him when i TR, then once I reach 28 I could just log him and transfer via the shared account. This would also mean i could create stock toons at maybe 5, 11, 15, 20 and keep my key gear on them. my tr cache would always be empty ans I would always knw exactly where my gear was.
I have never fully bought into BTC. I am guessing it is in place so that difficult gear to aquire cannot be shared between toons, but i think it is an un nessesarcy nuisance.

Should be able to place items on the Astral Shard Auction and retrieve them on another character....like purchase it on another character the same account. You can put bound to character items on the astral house...they just take more from the sale.
Should be good for some items but some items should still BTC on aquire and never be able to be unbound

No. The issue you have is with space. Your suggestion wouldn't just "fix" inventory management for some loot, it also makes gear available to all of your characters that you only need 1 character to acquire. I don't mind some things BTA, but I am a firm believer that powerful items should be BTC. I have inventory problems too and have tried pushing for a better banking system, but I don't have a BTC loot problem. Due to reincarnation as the focus in DDO right now, I have 85% unbound or BTA loot I share with my characters for heroics and epics and for a variety of classes that won't be the same every few lives. Some of this stuff you can't get anymore and refuse to part with it.

I'd actually rather see them implement a new bind -- bind to account on equip -- and replace all btc(oe) gear with btaoe.
I don't give a rat's behind if it means you only need one. Great. Have fun constantly muling your gear through the shared bank if that does it for you.
But don't just BTA everything, because it is nice to have something vaguely resembling a functioning trade system on the auction house.

Definately agree, I've seen so many raids stare at a rare BTC item that no in the raid can use, there's little to no reason for this to exist other than "thats how its always been"

I think the biggest annoyance with BtC for me atm is Tempest Spine!
Seriously: What is the point in making all that let's face it low level loot BtC on Acquire? At least make it Bind On Equip!
Another annoyance is VoN!
If I can pass the Seal and Shard through the Shared Bank to the character I actually want to make that item on then why on Eberron can't I pass the base items {which are frankly ludicrously rare themselves!}.
Also: Is it really a good idea to have all these items only drop in the Raid itself {not even in the Pre-Raid!}?
Couldn't the Devs move some of the items to the Quests and the Pre-Raid?

Actually yes: Don't remove BtC - Just remove BtC on Acquire! Make all BtC loot Bind on Equip so we at least have the opportunity to pass it to a character that will use it!

Raid gear should bind to the character who acquired it, sharing the stuff to improve it isn't the samething

That's fine for End-Game but all Raids aren't equal in DDO and it makes absolutely no sense to have to farm Tempest Spine for an item on your Fighter then the one time you run it on your Wizard guess what drops!
VoN 5 is even worse as I've run it a bunch of times now and have exactly one pair of Kundarak Boots and one SoS!
Between 30 Characters!
Luckily I got the SoS on a character that will use it but what if I hadn't?
It's bad enough knowing it's going to be forever to get the Shards but to have the standard items require that much farming is just silly when this Raid isn't anywhere near End-Game anymore!
When VoN came out and cap was 10 or 12 it made sense to have the grind.
When cap was 20 and Seals/Shards/Scrolls were introduced it made sense.
Now it doesn't!
Oh and there's still people out there who don't like you rolling on a Shard when you're not on a character that can use it - I'd rather be able to run VoN 5/6 on my Wizards/Rogue Mechs and Clerics without worrying that someone won't pass me the Shard of SoS for the character who needs it even if I do win the roll {Unlikely as me winning a roll is}!

If you don't get the SoS on the character you want it one you weren't meant to have it Also run more on the character you want it on they shouldn't be BTA or BOE

Now your issue is drop rates for some outdated system, not the BTC status. Something like SOS is what I consider a powerful item and should stay BTC. Something like Kundarak boots is not anymore and would be fine if it was BTA.
People need to stop thinking in terms of end game and need to consider there is still some powerful items in game that are in lower levels. It shouldn't matter if it's useful for a few levels. It's the level of power it has for that intended range that matters more.

SoS is one item!
My complaint was about every piece of loot in TWO Raids {three if you count VoN 5}!
And what's wrong with at least changing the BtC on acquire to BtA on Acquire + BtC on equip for all Raids below say Lvl 25?

Yes I know SOS is one item. The heroic sword is quite powerful.
Doesn't matter how many raids you are talking about, my response is unchanged.
This argument was brought up like 4 years ago too. All raid loot currently that is considered still powerful for its intended level should remain BTC. The older raids that drops loot not considered very powerful I'm fine with changing to some BTA status, as I said before. If the loot was given a pass than I would say old raid loot should remain BTC.
