I wish sapphires of spell agility would apply their effect on the item they are placed on, rather than the cumulative spell failure.

I suspect it's so you could reduce spell failure by 20-30% total just from augs, with one in armor, one in shield.

thought that as well- but that would make the augments OP.

And possibly drown us in Adamantine Body Bladeforged Savant/EK sorcs with Purple Dragon Shields.

^this. I tried to put a 15% in a half plate and shield and the combination of the two still resulted in a spell failure roll. Figured out fast the actual mechanic and was sad.
Just seems weird to me. I equip this armor, it's bulky and hard to maneuver in, so I have a chance of messing up my incantation. I put this augment in it which has the ability, some how, to make that easier. To me, that's an item effect, not a personal effect. I'm guessing as it is now you could stick the augment in another item without spell failure and it would still reduce your overall spell failure, if you have any, which is just weird.
I know it would change the value of the augment. Thus, it is a 'wish', :)
EDIT: Maybe I should ask for the still spell metamagic feat. Chance to fail? No! lol

While not looking right at the numbers, it's probably because there is still a %chance somewhere.
You can't get a -% chance, but only lower the chance to 0, so the way it works makes sense.
